mine:

- Applause is Gaga's best lead single
- Applause, Do What U Want, Fashion! are the best songs on the album
- GUY, Dope, Manicure are the worst songs on the album
- i think its a nice album, but still it is at the bottom of my ranking
- Do What U Want (with that guy) its the best version of the song

1) The era had some of her prettiest hair/makeup looks… but also some of her most awful outfits

2) The album is impressively cohesive, production-wise. Even if the sonic throughline is “angry, farting robot pig”

3) The most fun lyric to sing is MJH’s “cause I love love, cause I love love, you better than, you better than, my darkest sin” …at the top of your lungs, in the car

4) Even the best songs on the album (DWUW, Sexxx Dreams, Fashion! & Applause) feel amateur & stilted by the standards she had previously established for herself

5) The R Kelly version of DWUW is the best version. She & Xtina are not compatible singers & their live performance of the song was cringe-inducing. The solo version is okay, but Kelly’s vocals elevated the song

6) Applause is catchy, but has some of her clunkiest, most embarrassing lyrics ever

7) Aura is fun but overrated in the fanbase (it also has bad lyrics)

8) I’ve come to enjoy the Sexxx Dreams bridge, but a part of me still craves the demo bridge. That instrumental was short, but it had me hypnotized

9) Jewels N Drugs is obviously terrible, but lbr… SHE is the worst part of it, not the features lol

10) Venus, Swine, GUY, Manicure, Donatella & Dope are not good songs (the Venus chorus is okay, & some of the others have fun/catchy moments… but overall… ugh)

11) Her worst album artwork BY FAR (made even more disappointing by how perfect the album “announcement photo” was in comparison). I understand this specific cover was a deliberate choice to match the loud, chaotic tone… but still. Ugly is ugly.

12) So many ARTPOP fanatics do gymnastics trying to explain why it wasn’t received well by the GP, talking about all the “behind the scenes” stuff, etc.
But at the end of the day… it was just a heavy-handed, subpar product from her. I can see why so many theater kid LMs are fond of it, though (that’s not meant as an insult)

13) She used to talk out of her ass ALL the time; the way so many fans latched onto her comments about an “Act II” will always be exhausting.
It was exhausting then, but even moreso in 2025 at that press conference. Especially because, based on the leaks, NONE of the unreleased tracks are worthy of being reworked/released… not a single one lmao

14) If I stumbled upon all of LG’s discography for the first time now with fresh ears, I would probably enjoy ARTPOP more than I do.
But context is unavoidable, & *living through it* felt disappointing after living through the eras/albums that came before it

15) This album makes me appreciate TFM, BTW & MAYHEM even more. Her lowest lows are higher than a lot of artists’ highest highs

16) I cried the first time I listened to Gypsy-- the album winding down & hearing the Scheiße reference about not speaking German but trying anyway.
It was a cute lyric that made me “accept” Lady Gaga’s imperial phase was behind her. Felt bittersweet. I still become emotional hearing it today 🔵

1. I want her to revisit this album but with Cirkut and Benjamin Rice.

2. some parts of songs aged like milk, like the crowd scream in Maria Jenina Netherlands.

3. Fashion! sounds like a bunch of 40 years old friends singing in their garage, pretending to be a band from the 80s, in the middle life crisis.

4. I hate her accent in Manicure, also the whole concept of the song is cringe.

5. Dope is still a weird song

6. Swine could have been amazing if someone else produced it with her.. there are so many ideas in this song but the execution is very mid and very unprofessional...

7. DJWS as a lead producer was a mistake.

8. nobody knew and nobody knows wtf is ARTPOP

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Do what u want is a career highlight song, and it’s a shame what happened to it. I need her to release the solo version bc the difference in Gaga’s studio voice and Christina’s is not mixed well and doesn’t hit as hard as the original.

i don’t think we need a second volume to ARTPOP

best era for street fashion and non promotional photoshoots

ARTPOP is the best song on the album.

The album is a product of its time; not ahead of it.

The era was nowhere near as messy as everyone says it was. Besides the couple cancellations, it’s the best rollout we have gotten since born this way.

This was our last glimpse of Gaga as we knew her from the begging of her career, and in my opinion, Gaga at her fullest potential creative energy. The Gaga that would sacrifice her well being and put her art before anything else in her life. I’m glad she is in a better place now and is doing well, and prefer her happy, but there is a something different about her ambition in this era, vs anything that followed it. ( it’s a healthy difference ofc)

I've never had an issue with this album and despite being around for the era can't remember the controversy :duck:

While it's a good album, I don't listen to it much these days. It's not as refined as the previous ones. Most of the songs sound quite demo-y.

-It is one of her best albums

-MANiCURE, ARTPOP and Gypsy are some of her best songs ever.

-Some of her best performances come from this era and some of her best vocals too.

-I think the album versions of Sexxx Dreams and MANiCURE are better than the iTunes festival versions however ARTPOP was much better at the iTunes Festival.

-Dope is a great ballad and GaGa's raw, emotive vocals on that song are some of her best.

-Aura is one of her best songs ever.

-G.U.Ys video is incredibly underrated and is one of her best.

-The photoshoot she did with Inez and Vinoodh should have been used for the album booklet instead of the one they used(and should have been used for more things in general) .

-The original DWUW version is still the best even though the solo one is also good.

Addison Rae

ARTPOP (song) is kinda the best song of her career. it’s timeless, fresh and encapsulates everything she was trying to do with the era.

Aura is one of her best songs. The robotic spoken sections are everything we thought we were getting at the time. the instrumental is hard af, the play on words and her vocals are amazing

I think Fashion! Is one of her most boring songs. Great vocals but the song doesnt go anywhere for me, and with will.i.am I expected much much more
