“The Fate of Ophelia” is now the longest-running #1 hit of Taylor Swift’s career

I've come around to Showgirl a bit since release. Although I still think it is her weakest album by a wide margin. But I dunno, I really don't get why Ophelia is so popular in particular, especially enough to surpass Anti-Hero. I find it so incredibly lukewarm.

What if someone said this same scentence but with “black girl” instead?

Nobody would cause a black girl wouldn't get overhyped af without being way more deserving.

That's the point.

but why make it racial?

Cause it partially is.

A black girl with the same exact voice and songs would have never known the same success with these skills.

Rihanna was not good vocally or as a performer but she got more #1 than more talented girls

Rihanna had a very unique voice even if she wasn't super skilled vocally indeed... She was bringing something many technical singers couldn't give. You mix these with each other but wouldn't mix Rihanna with anyone.

And I believe she was more vocally skilled than Swift on top of being a better dancer too. She could at least move well when swift does ok at best and some of her stay/ love on the brain live vocals are still above anything Taylor ever did vocally, even 12 years afterwards... So even being amongst the less talented black superstars she's still above a white girl who was really given the world like crazy.

Also Rihanna may have a lot of #1s indeed but she never had a tour reaching a tenth of the success of Taylor last one nor did she ever got AOTY at the Grammys while Taylor got it 3 times with maybe one actually being deserved maybe. Same with the American Music Awards being one of the biggest ceremonies awarding Taylor each time she breathes when a Rihanna got way less of these despite being the face of American Music for so long.

Imo a white Rihanna would have, sadly, done even better than Riri. I'm sadly sure of that. :/

Yeah but Rita Ora did the whole Ariana Grande pretending to be black thing.
Cept for while we joked about Ari, I remember folks being genuinely surprised to find out Rita Ora isn't mixed race.

gagzus

I’ll personally never get the love for her current music (1989 was her last good album imo) and a hill I will DIE on is she wouldn’t be as big now if she didn’t re-record and release all her old popular albums.
