Controversiaga 12,295
also so weird people saying it’s made for women and man on man is being fetishized by women - as if that would all be a bad thing ? who tf are we to gatekeep man on man action??? Do we want allies/support/acceptance or do we want to be isolated and not be given any platforms or recognition ??? Wtf edit: not to mention girl on girl is mega fetishized by straight men . And what’s the big fckn deal? it doesn’t hurt anybody . Only thing that is hurtful is for man on man to be seen as gross by people outside the gay community and it seems like it’s finally starting to not always be the case? I want to find good Gay shows or movies, but they are always end up too focused on the sexuality, it feels like its not done by a Gay person. If you would keep watching instead of ducking out after one episode, you would understand that the show transitions into exactly what you’re asking for and that the sex scenes are not superfluous or there just to titillate but are actually massively important to the plot and to the development of both of the central characters. But I understand that asking anyone on this website to have a bare minimum amount of media literacy or put a bare minimum amount of research into anything is quite a big ask. 5 1

Future Lovers 7,166
Also I’m sorry but the whole “the novel was written by a woman for women” is ****ing asinine not only for the reasons stated earlier, but also because it completely dismisses that the man who created and runs, the show is an out gay man. If anything you are should be filled with pride that an out gay man was made the showrunner of a show with a large budget on a major streamer and was given free rein to depict queer romance and intimacy and emotion any way he wanted. If that’s not ****ing progress, I don’t know what is. Edited Wednesday at 09:56 PM by Future Lovers 1 1 3

The show may not be revolutionary, but it’s entertaining and tackles a very real issue: creating space for young NHL players to feel safe coming out, especially when no active player has done so publicly yet. & I grew up watching QAF (very awful corny writing in it too tbh). None of my straight family (or any of the people I knew) were watching it. I have family from Louisiana watching this and countless girls/straight couples are watching it. That is a positive for the community.

Its just a TV show, I dont need to do research and force myself to sit through a show I dont like. I made it clear in my comment that I just watched 1 episode, and asked people who watched it if it gets better, and they said it takes 5 episodes to develope. And many people who watched the whole show said its not good. Edited Wednesday at 10:22 PM by faysalaaa

It has actually great cinematography and character development as well as excellent actors.

I've only watched clips, and it doesn't really click with me After reading the Heated Rivalry thread, I wrote down some reasons: 1. The original novels were written by a woman for other women (yikes) Reveal hidden contents The fetishisation of gay people by heterosexual people of the opposite sex is a real problem y'all The director's gay i think which kinda helps but not much 2. AFAIK the actors are openly straight (double yikes) Idk how i stand with this. I am considering the kit connor situation, but i can't really find any saving grace for them. Gay people should be able to tell gay stories, i believe. Also the actors just aren't that hot sue me. 3. It's allegedly basically softcore p0rn disguised as a decent tv show (triple yikes) I read the wikipedia synopsis and HOLY F WORD there are like 12 sex scenes in each episode. JUST WATCH P0RN IF YOU WANT TO SEE THAT; i'm sure most sean cody videos have a more interesting plotline I think the appeal of the show with the gay community is just the use of the universal middle school fantasy of jocks shagging each other as a plot do i need to open my mind more or am i correct? So you have not read the book and haven’t watch the Tv show and want to give your opinion? That summarize everything that is wrong in the world. Too much opinion based on nothing, not enough facts. Its that look of fear on Jake's face when AJ goes off script. Truly beautiful watching him nearly cry.
