I believe it's organic! It's probably because we're all into Gaga and Gaga liked it or something that the algorithm was like.. you ***s will like this because your Queen does, here, listen

it's interesting though I've never had any musicians show up in my feed before and my friend doesn't like Gaga but I saw he'd commented on it a couple days before me. And this could have been before Gaga was aware it existed

Well that makes sense then because both a friend of yours commented on it and Gaga interacted with it too. Gaga might've liked it a few days ago to use for later. That's how the algorithm works. It sees your mutuals and a musician you love interacting with it and probably did the whole 'other people who have liked/watched/interacted with the same videos as you also liked/watched/interacted with this'. Enough points of similarity and it goes onto your FYP

I'll be myself until they fΕ«cking close the coffin.

Just realised I'm not following Gaga but it could just be since my friend had commented on it, but then you getting it on another platform, and Gaga getting it, and all the youtube comments talking about discovering it now...Doesn't mean it's not organic I just find it really interesting when someone who's been posting for a while with barely any views suddenly get's pushed to everyone across multiple platforms. Kind of like when a 10 year old youtube video gets randomly pushed and all the comments are from the past couple days saying "why are we all now suddenly getting this?"

But that's also how the algorithm works. It's a snowball effect. So in a way it's kinda luck

TikTok first pushes the video to like 5 people, gauges how long they watched, where their fingers were placed on the screen, if they skipped through at all, if they opened the comments, if their eyes were focussed on the screen, etc.. and if those first 5 interacted enough it tries another 20... if it did well with them it sends it to 100.. then 200, 500, 1000, etc. And if it keeps doing the right thing it keeps pushing it until it stops getting interactions

I uploaded a video of my cat that amassed 2.7 million views just because it happened to hit the right audience. I watched it go from a couple likes.. to a few comments, then suddenly to a bunch of likes and comments, to suddenly overnight getting thousands of views, then slow dwindled (although it still gets a few comments and likes each week). And I've watched other ones start to take off a little... then crash and die. Others that didn't get interaction at the very start just did nothing. It's called an algorithm for a reason

I'll be myself until they fΕ«cking close the coffin.

Wow did you get revenue for your cat video? I still don't have TikTok but the views I've heard about on there can be insane. And yeah it probably is all luck I just find it interesting in general. Like a while back youtube would keep pushing me songs that literally had less than 5 views and I'd always give them a listen

New Zealand isn't part of the creator fund so no, we can't make money off TikTokΒ :bear:

But I don't care because our version of TikTok is much better without everything being money-driven. We even have a STEM tab instead of TikTok shop. it's funny seeing the contrast between the US version and NZ version. Apparently we value science, technology, engineering and mathematics and the US values capitalism, consumerism, and selling your soul for moneyΒ

But I did get enough followers to gain the ability to go liveΒ :awesome:Β  never done it though

I'll be myself until they fΕ«cking close the coffin.

so this is all we’re gonna get from the event? No red carpet photos? No interview transcription?Β :oohrightthereyeah:

Someone said they recorded the Q&A. It might be coming soon, maybe the Grammy Museum will release that
