Why does this bitch look so different in all the newer games? :laughga:  it's like they give her a whole new face every time. Anyway, I like that they gave the dinosaurs feathers and made them more accurate with current scientific knowledge! I only played the remasters of the original games once through but enjoyed them a lot

I’ve seen a lot of discourse about how the two models look different in the two new games revealed, and it’s because Legacy of Atlantis is meant to be a younger Lara following Shadow, and Catalyst is meant to be Lara in the present day after Underworld. I’m glad they ditched the model from Shadow because she was a bit chopped. Rise’s model was definitely the most pleasing to the eye

Oh I love this. I feel like this Lara looks a lot more like the original one too?

I played so much of TR III as a kid. I was so bad at it I think I spent hours just in the tutorial in her house, harassing the butler.

So glad to see this!

Side note, does anyone else get a weird Lara/Gaga stan connection. I feel like Gaga fans lean toward heroines like Lara quite a bit.

Yasss, both my teenage obsessions :flutter:

Also Xena: Warrior Princess, but that was a bit earlier

lmao funny you mention this because lara is my gaga equivalent in the video game world as gaga is in the music world. maybe it's the gay agenda of it all :ladyhaha:

i'm super stoked for yet another tr1 remake and the continuation of her "newer" story though. when loa was announced, i felt a similar feeling as when i listened to abracadabra for the first time. lara's back home :')

now i just want them to remake tr underworld... i would literally die.

Really ? UW is probably my fave TR game. I replayed it recently after the survival trilogy. Found it really appealing. I'm not sure that one requires a remake... Whereas AoD feels still barely playable to me, even in it's recent IV, V & VI remade bundle...

I can confirm a some sort of Lara/Gaga connection too. Thus a real attraction for strong female characters. A str8 agenda (?) in my case as evidenced by the type of girlfriends I have had throughout my life.

purely from a technical standpoint, i would totally love to see tru reimagined with today's advancements in game tech. i loved geeking out over the survivor trilogy incorporating tressfx tech and then purehair and always hated the dead slug on her hair, and it would be cool to see the mocapped animations either smoothed out or fleshed out.... thailand expanded to be more vast, etc etc. it would just be a really cool love letter in my book even just from sheer technology alone. i just don't know how they would rework the story since it's literally to go find her undead mom lmao but it would be super cool. i thought tru was so advanced for its time back in 2008!

we love strong female leads.

I feel like they’re remaking the original to alter the lore to fit the Survivor series. Like how they altered up some of Anniversary to fit into the LAU trilogy’s lore.

That being said I can’t wait (I hated Survivor’s mechanics though so the gameplay will still be meh to me)

Even though I understand that one might be excited about a remake that would benefit from technological advances, I am and always will be a fervent fan of the original versions. It's like in cinema. What we had to say at a certain point in time, we said with the language and tools available to us. Remakes, although they bring a thrill of renewal, rarely live up to the originals, emotionally speaking. In video games, the limitations of the technology of a certain era led creators to tell the story with the means at their disposal. I find that in their early incarnations, the technical limitations on screen also appealed much more to the player's imagination, and this intensity has faded over the years with the advent of technology that offers more and more realism on screen. The same is true in cinema. Nothing surprises us anymore. Everything is possible and pre-digested. There are no more mysteries.

The Exorcist no longer scares those who discover the film today. Whereas when it was released in theaters, what we saw on screen was completely inexplicable. The audience had no way of understanding what they were seeing or how it had been made, and that's what was utterly frightening.

So, okay, bring on the New Adventures of Lara Croft, with even more action, mystery, puzzles to solve, and crazy atmospheres. The recent remasters of the first six games were made with the intention of staying close to the originals. Fine. Well done. Now it's time to bypass the remakes and bring Tomb Raider into the future.

maybe a superfan could remake tru themselves in unreal, just like how there was that one person who was working on remaking tr2 and had that tech demo out... i'm pretty open to remakes/reimaginings (unless it's disney live action remakes. then those can be canned). sometimes it gives devs the chance to tell the story the way they had initially intended but had technical limitations, or even be able to include content left on the cutting room floor that they couldn't before but had initially intended to. i'm salivating at the idea of a reimagined niflheim with open hubs... an open and more explorable croft manor (not the survivor version), mexico having more complex puzzles, maybe beneath the shadows and lara's shadow just incorporated as part of the main game as side quests, instead of dlc (wishful thinking in this day and age of micro-transactions). the REmakes have been well-received so far and i'd say their fanbase is as... nostalgic, as the tr fanbase. if it's done tastefully and with good intentions, i could see the lau trilogy being successful remakes. at the very least, a graphical remaster of the lau trilogy may be cool but a full-on remake would be so fun! shouldn't have to hinder any of her new AAA adventure titles to come.
