After 7 years, the time has finally come! Last night at the 2025 Game Awards ceremony Lara Croft's return was revealed by not one, but TWO new game announcements.

In 2026, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the (second) reimagining of the first title, will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

Then in 2027, the next main-line title Tomb Raider: Catalyst will drop on the same platforms.

Both games developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Amazon Games Studios, with Flying Wild Hog assissting with development for Legacy of Atlantis. Lara's new voice actress was revealed to be Alex Wilton Regan, a British actress known for her work in video games such as Mass Effect 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Assassin's Creed Origins.

I loved the past Tomb Raider games. Are these supposed to be a continuation of those games?

Sounds like it’s new reboot of the series, basically. First one is a reimagining of the original TR game and then the second is a new sequel to that one.

There’s a new tv series in development too, so I think they’re kinda rebooting everything.

So Legacy of Atlantis is a remake of the original 1996 game, which now canonically follows on from Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018), but Catalyst is meant to follow on from Tomb Raider Underworld (2008), since that chronologically is Lara’s most recent adventure with the new unified timeline. They’ve made it confusing by trying to tie all the three different eras of Tomb Raider together, but I’m happy with it nonetheless

TR1 and Anniversary are both so nostalgic and have beautiful atmosphere it’s hard NOT to play them. I hope this next one captures that same atmosphere

The only thing I disliked about Anniversary was the quick time events, but they were popular at that time I guess.

This looks gorgeous though, and Catalyst looks and sounds like a modern version of classic Lara.

Yeah Anniversary was deffo a product of its time. Quick time events, washed out sepia color pallette, etc.

Catalyst already seems like it’s going to be the biggest and best TR game yet!
