It amuses me so much when Americans stumble across British-isms. For the unaware, a "ding dong" is British slang for an argument. Travis had apparently said recently that he and Taylor have never argued, so the journalist is claiming that an occasional row is healthy in a relationship. The "gunk out the marital pipes" however, is...all on her personally.  But she had to know what she was doing.
