As people made their way into the Indianapolis Union Station for a naturalization ceremony, federal officials stopped certain applicants and told them that they wouldn't be leaving the building with U.S. citizenship.

see this is the stupid sh*t im talking about when i say that the US immigration system is far from being simple. The way you can literally be about to give your oath to this country—a step that takes YEARS to get to, by the way—and they can say "the country you're from is high risk" even though you've not been there for years due to our stringent immigration laws...just an absolute mess only morons would believe is not so

Those people did everything the right way, the way the GOP said they would welcome immigrants, and they still got screwed.

Glad you still got it tho! I was naturalized over a decade ago

Ppl might get upset and ask why u applied if u dont have faith in the govt but just ignore them  they're not entitled to know why, theyre just mad u now have the same rights as them

My roommate is Venezuelan and has lived here since he was a child and has been a green card holder for years. He was planning on getting his citizenship next year but now I guess he can’t? I’m so glad my stepmother who was a long-term green card holder from New Zealand went ahead and got her citizenship during the Biden administration because no one is truly safe under Trump.

Doesn't matter in this case, this is strictly federal. The state government has no say.
