Oklahoma University student Samantha Fulnecky submitted an essay for her Psych class, and it has received national attention. The essay was in response to an article on gender norms and how they affect children as they grow up. Samanthas response essay did not cite any empirical evidence and had a host of other issues, including prejudiced language as she called certain wants to deviate from gender norms as "satanic". She received a failing grade from her teachers trans teaching assistant, 0%, as a result. Samantha claimed that she was facing religious discrimination, and took this to her schools higher ups. Oklahoma ranks 50th in education, and is deeply conservative. As a result, Samantha won her case and the trans teaching assistant was put on leave. Turning Point USAs Oklahoma University (TPUSAOU chapter posted about this issue, and it quickly received national attention. While many on the right, including domestic terrorists like Ryan Walters, supported it, a significant portion of people who learned about this incident gave Oklahoma University, TPUSAOU, and others strong backlash. Samanthas poor writing style and failure to complete the assignment properly was noted. In the midst of this, Samanthas mother Kristi Fulnecky gave her resounding support on social media. This caused her mother to be discovered as a lawyer who worked to pardon January 6th terrorists. Samantha as of this moment is in the middle of a right-wing media tour over the incident.

Let’s be real. This “student” didn’t have any desire to learn anything in this course. They just wanted to be a narcissistic pest and draw attention to herself. She didn’t cite sources but used “feelings” and not facts. She failed the assignment but is on her way to because a spokesperson for religious discrimination.
