I feel like this song’s success needs to be studied as a case study for success in the industry today. Bc this song never cracked the top 10, didn’t have some buzzy controversy carrying it. By no means should this be the hit it seems to be. It’s truly wild

these are GLOBAL streaming charts, you're talking US specific charts that includes radio, streaming, sales (and peaks are all about timing of release, there are times of the year where chart points are weak as hell and there are times where they aren't; "The Subway" peaked higher and dipped same with Tate's single)

Abracadabra dance went viral on TikTok + Abra/Judas transition went mega viral too (made the latter gain +300M on spotify between February and November)

also it's a party song, got boost from Halloween and I think it'll get a bigger one from New Year's eve, it's a future billion club member for sure!

and it’s not the top solo female song on Apple Music either.

again it’s Stan accounts engagement farming without any official source

It's just a proof that the charts during the streaming era are irrelevant and not really reflecting the reality.

Like The Fate Of Necrophilia... it's #1 for almost 8 weeks, but where is the buzz? the tiktok moments? the impact? even the radio is not obsessed with it much.

If you check the top 10, ask yourself how many songs do you even know and then if you know, how many time did you listen to them recently..

But everyone knows Abra, it became her signature song atm "Lady Gaga, the hitmaker behind Abracadabra"..

Exactly what I mean. It’s kinda wild how it shows how little metrics can really measure these days.

I know I’m just saying that usually the discrepancy isn’t SO enormous for a US based act. Like you’d think that for it being a global mega hit that it would have had bigger metric impact in the U.S. so it’s interesting that it hasn’t. Again, I feel like this song’s success is a case study in what success looks like in today’s music market where a U.S. #1 doesn’t really determine even a U.S. act’s success. By most numerical accounts, Mayhem was a flop era in terms of singles, legs, etc. yet it actually wasn’t in any way and has been an enormous success for her even without DWAS. It’s impressive and a really interesting look at how impact is a very difficult thing to measure metrically in a world where these numbers can be gamed so much

yeah Europe and Latin America (particularly Brasil, only international album in spotify top 10 this year btw!) did most of the heavy lifting for this album

tbf Gaga has always been bigger outside the US, Joanne is her only local era!

I think it's about songs *released* in 2025, as another user pointed out.

Anyway, congrats to Abracadabra for being that b*tch!

Edit: ... but then why would Golden be in that list though and Abracadabra not? Eh Idk tbh :duck: I just know it's one of the best songs ever written haha (not talking about Golden lol)

Ah right, because it's female solo artists only. @elsamars your post made my inattentive hyperfixating a$s confused. It caused me to do research and spend way more time thinking about this than I should have. I'm so glad I could clear this up for us both. :neyde: I hope your post wasn't meant to be sarcasm or you hating on Abracadabra in disguise to begin with because if so you got me good.

It’s female+solo+released in 2025 (even though a song released in 2024 can chart in 2025 hence DWAS)

i hate AbraBlanda but that’s not the topic

Well, there were multiple times through the year where we were saying "if Abracadabra came out now it would be top 5". The charts are a bad measure of success tbh.

I think all eyes were on her and Bruno after DWAS so APT got big despite being an even worse song than DWAS (also 'cause Bruno is comfortably the #1 artist on Spotify and probably other platforms) and Abracadabra is unabashedly a classic Gaga hit song, of course it took off :diane:

Billie absolutely out streamed Gaga this year but "top ___ of 2025" very clearly means released in 2025 and HMHAS, godly as it is, came out early last year.

By that logic we shouldn’t celebrate DWAS being #1 on 2025 lists because it was released in 2024?

+ Wildflower was released as a single in 2025

AbraBlanda coming from an Addison stan (read: someone who makes songs meant to be heard once in an H&M dressing room then immediately forgotten)

I have to laugh…

We have forgotten our public MANNERS
