I love the album version, but the live version doesn’t fully work for me. I feel like “I don’t wanna fade into the darkness tonight” is the main vocal on the studio track, and “Show me the light” is more of a backing layer. But she always sings the second layer instead, so it doesn’t hit the same if that make same?

 

Also, it would’ve been amazing if she included the full outro in the live performance.

 

Does anyone else feel this or have thoughts on why the live version sounds different? Whoever attended Mayhem ball, does people sing along loud during Chrous?

I think it's the opposite and it works live, everyone sings along to the chorus during the Mayhem Ball. 

Consider that the song is hard to sing live and it comes to a point in the show where she already did soooo many songs, so she sings it that way mainly in order to breathe right

I personally enjoy it way more live than on the album version. 

As for the vocals, I think her choosing the "adlibs" with Show mee the Light fits better as even on the album mix it is more purely her where as the prior line is a blend of her and backing vocals.

I agree 100%.  This song simply doesn’t work live.  It’s a “call & repeat” type chorus and all she sings is the repeat.  Lol

Especially while dancing- the "I don't wanna fade into the darkness tonight; I don't wanna be the one falling on the knife" is in INCREDIBLY difficult part to sing even in the studio. We already know she sings live so she has nothing to prove that way- and I think the way she sings it live has such amazing energy without making her out of breath before verse 2
