Was The Dead Dance a Mistake?

The song sounds very cheap and weak compared to most of the other Mayhem tracks. Probably my least favorite track on the album. Gaga and her team are trying so hard for this song to go super viral but it ain't working and there's a reason for that :laughga:

I am grateful for having more songs. But I think the mistake was giving it so much exposure at expense of the other Mayhem songs. I know it's a partnership between her and Wednesday, but IMO zombieboy would have fitted better for the role.

I really love the uptempo parts of "TDD" I found myself saying "Do the dead dance (dead)" in random situations but I can't stand its long and slow intro. When it shows up on my player I need to decide if I skip it or forward to the good part.

Partnering with Tim Burton brought me so much excitement but I was dissapointed on watching footage of her walking on the doll island. It wasn't a interesting story aside of that.

Yes, it's one of her worst singles - up there with Stupid Love and The Cure.

The Cure is a smash

I think perhaps waiting from Abra to TDD was a mistake, could've put another single in the middle, but I don't think TDD was a mistake. Wonderful track, wonderful dance, will be a Halloween staple every year :vegas:

The biggest mistake of the era.  It DERAILED the era, IMO.  I’m convinced had she released Zombieboy instead, it would been a bonafide hit and would have propelled the album.

Borderline offensive to mention it in the same sentence as The Cure.

I agree but are you trashing The Dead Dance or The Cure? This might change my reaction to this post :oprah:

I genuinely think The Cure is better, lol.

In this situation theres two mistakes; her not releasing anything between Abra and this, letting the momentum kinda die.. secondly all of the fans who didn't stream it enough and spent the energy bitching about it instead of lifting it up. Like she's done so much for this song after y'all bitched the **** about her ignoring  Disease to not showing any appreciation for the push.

Eggs

It feels like they put a lot of eggs in The Dead Dance basket, like they expected the Wednesday promo spot and its Tik Tok dance and halloween would make it a viral moment. But the song stands as one of the weakest from its parent album, it's just not good enough to be a big hit. And all of that would have been fine except it feels like they put off pushing Vanish Into You or Garden of Eden or How Bad Do You Want Me as a single during the summer because they were concentrating their efforts on TDD. I don't know if any of those songs would have done any better on the charts but it would have improved the era's sense of momentum.

The mistake was to not release Vanish Into You as a single with a music video the day after Copacabana. They fvcked up.

But then, at the time The Dead Dance was released, it was probably the best move they could’ve done
