jimmytimestep 2,758 Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM This was/is absolutely amazing and I’m so grateful she chose to drop this right before stranger things’ release - not just to eviscerate him at his most public moment, but also, so she’s not in the same Grammys year as Gaga because this has HUGE AOTY potential. StrawberryBlond 14,962 Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM I seem to be the only one that isn't feeling this album at all. I totally understand her pain and why she wanted to put it into music but that's just it, it doesn't work put into the medium of music. Talking this out in an interview, written in an autobiography or essay would be brilliant but sang? Far too mundane phraseology to put into song, so overly personal to the point where only she could relate to it, every song about the same thing and not one song you can actually do anything with. I like music to have a very clear purpose as to what it's for and this is completely aimless. She apparently wrote it in just 10 days and it shows. Just a stream of consciousness and little else. As it stands, 14 tracks and not a good one to be had. Sleepwalking, Just Enough and Fruityloop were the closest to something decent but didn't quite make it. Ruminating has to be the absolute, repetitive worst. I never claimed to be a big fan of her but her earlier music had something but she went downhill with Sheezus and never recovered and now she's making music that doesn't sound anything like she once made, not for the charts and not seemingly for anyone except herself. And of course, the critics are loving it because it's personal and vulnerable. But that doesn't make the music actually good.

She's never said that she was the perfect victim and every bad thing happened to her because of things outside of her responsibility. What makes her music so vulnerable and honest is that actually, she knows when she f*cks up. She's no Taylor. Besides she's stopped playing the commercial game looong ago (she tried with Sheezus and had many issues with her label). She's just venting and owning up what made her special in the first place - which is great songwriting. Now that the album is received well and her name is on the tabloids again of course there will be tiktokers trying to destroy her. She saw it all before and should pay no mind imo. Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? 4

This album is like the modern version of Funhouse, even though imo Funhouse is 10000x better.

It should reinvigorate her career in the UK at the very least tho (I fully expect her to win the Mercury Prize and maybe a BRIT). Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? And it's being kept cute lol I didn't even state my opinion on the matter; I mentioned conversations being had about her album on the thread about her album. I'm just wondering if the reception trajectory will change since this is the moment a lot more young americans are learning about her. She's easy to hate - so is Miley but it didn't stop people from gobbling up the drama around Flowers so idk. Then again as I said before America has never been her strongest market so she has nothing to lose anyway. Besides a bad wife/mother/person (not saying Lily is any of those per se) can experience bad stuff and write about it. Her past encounters don't take away her agency to speak or invalidate her feelings as long as she can be honest with herself. Amy Winehouse also had challenges with fame and keeping it straight (and had many haters too) but her music is legendary. Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?
