Teletubby 153,408
Jennifer Lopez’s musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman” is targeting $1.5 million to $3 million from 1,300 screens, a disastrous kickoff for the film. “Kiss of the Spider Woman” was independently financed in the high $30 million range and acquired by Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate after its Sundance debut. Bill Condon directed the remake, which takes place mostly in an Argentinian prison and follows a queer window dresser who dreams up vivid stories of his favorite screen diva to escape the horrors of his imprisonment. This is the second film version of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” following the acclaimed 1985 feature from director Héctor Babenco, which grossed $17 million globally. Even without adjusting for inflation over the past 40 years, the new take on “Spider Woman” might struggle to match those sales. PoshLife 17,005
This is kind of a shame, from the preview it looks pretty good to me. I might actually go see it lol. But I think people are kind of tired of musicals right now, and J-Lo isn't the draw she used to be (Diego Luna though!). Not sure if there's really been a marketing push tbh, I get the sense J-Lo kinda just does these things as passion projects. Roughhouse Dandy 12,128
I'm not a JLo fan in the least but I'm rooting for this movie. The source material is phenomenal and the director is great. It has the potential to be a Moment™️ Go see it. Give it a chance, gays. This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.
TheBeast 1,432
Just walked out of the theater after seeing this. Is it a musical? Not really. I mean, it is, in the sense that the characters sing. But its not a musical that you blast in the car, or literally ever listen to unless you're seeing the movie. That being said, it really is a fantastic movie. There are some scenes that are relatively slow, and the characters speak almost too low sometimes to comprehend what they're saying. BUT it truly is an experience I recommend seeing. You can't hide who you are, 11:59. 1
weed 75,030
The fact that it's a progressive, independent film! I love that, I might go get a ticket to see it at AMC if it's in theaters still soon. Probs to JLo and Ben for making it happen
Lord Mayhem 1,778
Well if the studio didnt have enough confidence in the film to promote it properly...why should I spend my money to see it?
lance13 1,199
I was looking forward to seeing it. Supposedly, it opened wide on Friday, but there wasn't a theater showing it within 2 hours of where I live.
