Well, firstly, that's more like asking random people at work for their opinion rather than conducting a proper, tallied survey. Research needs to be thorough, and any biases, as well as the potential for a fair result, must be taken into consideration. There are many instruments available to quantify a reasonable sample.

But in a sense, if we're just talking about points of view and recent events, even Swifties are laughing at some of the lyrics. Most of the recent TikToks with millions of likes that I’ve seen are people cringing at the lyrics from this album.

It’s true that there has been some backlash. At the same time, her fan base and numbers are still strong. What will be interesting, though, is her current standing and reputation after this album rollout. It’s not really looking good. Still, there will definitely be loyal fans who stick with her, and that fanbase (cult) is still massive for sure.

Gaga = liked and respected by more people broadly, but excluding a small group of little monster fans. most people only like Gaga casually and arent major fans. Its probably why she manages to be top 3 or 4 on spotify monthly listeners yet she is far lower than that in total streams

 

Taylor = liked by a little less people but the people who like her, REALLY like her and support her obsessively so her numbers on charts are WAY bigger than Gagas will ever be

Id rather have Gagas career tho and I'd dare say she has more legendary status than Taylor's mediocre music and exploitation of her fans through unnecessary variants of her work.

Although I do wish Gaga had more world building in her albums instead of just through interviews and visuals. Taylor has Easter eggs, pop ups, tons of merch, and collector items, etc...

I never said it wad a proper tallied survey and im well aware (and clearly stated) that it was just a fun experiement i did that i was only able to get a small sample size from

 

I wasnt gonna go around with a clipboard around the city or calling random ppl. I asked the ppl i was able to casually bring up and not be weird about it. It was not meant to be that serious or factual

I literally had this conversation with my mom earlier because she was surprised I didn't care to even listen to her new album since I love music...

I was telling her that not only is the music boring, but the constant marketing of variants and etc....and the way she seemed to be promoting this album came from a place of "This is going to be the biggest most dramatic thing" (something she seems to say each time, basically meaning 'I've got these fans wrapped around my finger and they'll buy it')

My biggest beef with the clips Ive heard from the new album is how does she have a billion bucks and access to any music producer, but created that? Also- the whole showgirl thing pissed me off from the moment I heard about the title/saw some photos because I'm sorry but what? I appreciate she works hard on her tours and they are elaborate, but her choreography and stage presence does not scream the type of show girl she was promoting in the photos for the album lol. I get it is one of her "eras", but her eras lately just seem to be the same as deciding what you wanna be for halloween and using a mediocre method acting approach to wearing the costume.

It makes sense that a female dominated workplace then TS would be more popular

I think its because back then (and even still now) being a fan of Gaga as a straight guy was seen as odd and effeminate, and may even drum up dumb rumors about him not even being straight. As time has passed, most people realized how dumb that sounds and aren't afraid to be more vocal about the kind of music they like, but I still see some straight guys talk about being embarrassed to say that they're into pop music and the women in music.
