Taylor’s “Father Figure” is such a disappointment to me. You can barely recognize the sample, and overall the song is nowhere near the level of George Michael’s original. I kind of knew it would be a miss because the song is so iconic, and Taylor’s feminism is so biased, but it turned out even worse than I thought it would be. This album is worse than TTPD. I think it’s the first TS album I actually dislike.

i wouldn't dare compare it to george michael, i was in the graham norton audience when she talked about sampling him and eye rolled when she compared both songs. i must admit i don't know his song so i'll have to listen to it. i just focused on her lyrics and found it refreshing to hear her talk about something other than love for once, tbh. i do like the hook though: "leave it with me, i'll protect the family." i think it's catchy and it works for the song. one of the better lyrics on this poorly written album

The best songs are Eldest Daughter, Ruin the Friendship, Wood, Honey & The Life of a Showgirl.
Her harmonies with Sabrina are amazing. Sabrina's soft vocals sound amazing on that track as well.

The Fate of Ophelia isn't what I'd pick as the lead single tbh, should be the title track but she'd never lead with a duet.  
I wouldn't have pre-ordered a vinyl if she'd released any of these tracks in advance ngl.

Y’all saying this album is poorly written when Dead Dance sounds completely AI written but y’all eat it up.

Is that Taylor’s best written album? No but is it weak? Also no. Lyrically I think she over did it with TTPD and this is a more simple and fun experience. It’s clear she made it while touring because of the lyrics. She performing her butt off every night, flying everywhere and making this music? The girl was tired. If this isn’t your kinda album that’s fine but i love it, every song is pretty catchy, it’s just the right length and it doesn’t over stay its welcome.
