To wake her is to lose her?

I always interpreted the early versions of The Art of Personal Chaos as just not fully finished in a way to keep the show exciting for the tour.

But to me, it feels that there are hints to a slightly different outcome in the original show.

To wake her is to lose her VS Every chess board has two queens

It’s clear act 4 on tour is about integrating the two sides of Gaga’s identity into one. We see the Gaga from act 2 and 3 in Mayhem dark hair (I interpret this as her trying to understand Mayhem on a deeper level). She then confronts mayhem at the end of the act and comes to a peaceful resolution.

in the early versions of the show, none of this is there. We see her come on 4 act 4, in black hair (which at the time I interpreted as Mother Mayhem returning to the stage). She comes back on stage for an encore of Bad Romance in blond hair again, the Gaga from act 2 and 3 of the original show. Where as on tour, it’s a mix of black hair and blonde (the integration of Gaga and Mother Mayhem).

So how do you guys interpret act 4 of the original show? To Wake Her Is To Lose Her is a VERY different title from Every Chess Board Has Two Queens.
Do we think the two sides of Gaga just hadn’t merged in the original show? Is it that simple? Or do you think there’s more there?
