Iirc, the clone is supposed to be the idealized/manufactured version of herself that she projects to the world. The notorious being, the “pop star” who is scrutinized & evaluated. But when in private, the clone “goes to sleep” & the real woman can safely revel in everything the clone has done/earned/accomplished.
