Hard to believe it’s been 14 years since the Born This Way video. The visuals were insane back then but it feels like no one really talks about it anymore.

Do you think it has aged well? Thoughts?

The other day I was watching a YouTube girl who reacts to stuff and she was gagging effortlessly at each BTW mv reaction, but I also find it funny the way she couldn’t get anything about the message in Judas. 
I think all BTW videography is aging really well actually, but Judas remains the best one imo. 
That intro in MTN is also fire.

probably for the same reason she has skeleton "tattoos" and prosthetics in other parts of the video (as well as that weird tampon shaped wig). it's about showing difference and things that people could be persecuted for. the tears are probably to acknowledge the pain that being different can cause, as well as the fact that no amount of affirmations can heal trauma.

i'm more confused by the white gloves and traffic cop dance right before that moment.

Yea same, I feel like BTW videography has aged well but it doesn’t get talked about much in the fanbase anymore. I think the reason is because the fanbase was very divisive about the song at first and I agree that it's just not on the same level as Judas or MTN.

The tooth gap was a reference to Madonna sweetie, and with the crying she was representing her meltdown over BTW being a better song than Express Yourself!!!!! Hope that makes it clear to you honey xo

I don’t think it aged well, actually. 

it’s also been one of the videos that I have rewatched perhaps the least.

I agree that she never really topped this one in terms of weirdness and storyline. BTW era truly felt like it was her most creative and less scripted era also

No but fr I remember back in the day people were saying she was referencing Michael Jackson and Madonna with the white gloves and tooth gap. Some people said the tooth gap she drew on occasionally during the BTW era was her 'bringing back' the tooth gap she was born with. Like she had it 'fixed' but in these photoshoots

Personally I always imagined the alien to be the empathetic 'race within a new race that bares no prejudice' she speaks of, landing on earth and crying for the hatred we harbour towards others. I guess in hindsight that's almost a religious parallel to Jesus coming to earth and crying for mans sins (I think that's a thing idk I wasn't raised religious )

But I guess at the end of the day it's one of those things that's just left up to interpretation
