All of her big tours so far have been real "world tours". She always performed in Asia, Australia/NZ and Latin America and often these shows sold better than in the US or the UK. Just look at the demand for Australia for her recent tour. She wouldn't visit Adelaide from the beginning, but they begged her to come and ended up with 4 shows. And in Brazil she performs in stadiums. Seems to work in the long term: if you are loyal to your fans around the world, they are loyal to you, too.

Many pop stars can't relate being this global...

agree, but this time she only go to china and japan for lifetimes tour, even second date of tokyo was cancelled before official sell, how sad.

katy's tour in asia last time was 2017, she would visits taiwan, hongkong, korea, singapore, thailand, indonesia & philippines back in the time, not just big cities in china & japan. sometimes i really miss those days that western pop divas had A REAL WORLD TOUR and we got a chance to see them in person.

but still, katy does better on this point than gaga, all the time.

I definitely think the whole concept of most artists not touring LatAm because it won't be profitable is a complete cop out. Labels and artists and make so much money, they can afford this. The gigs are selling out, millions is being made, how much money does it cost to fly a US artist a bit further south of the border? Sending them to far flung locations is a bit more understandable but a lot of venues and hotels in LatAm are probably a lot cheaper to rent and everything will be a bit cheaper over there. I think they're just not sent there as often as the fear is that the locals can't afford the high prices. Recent LatAm sales from Taylor, Gaga and biggest of all, Shakira (mostly all her dates are in LatAm with 28 sold out stadiums in Mexico alone) as well as upcoming dates from Dua and Kendrick prove that is not the case.

I mean flights and hotels have never been even remotely close to the more expensive part of touring, thats a drop in the bucket.

Shipping stage and props is what costs the most and logistically some developing Countries may have more infrastructure constraints to provide reliable services of move stage aroubd from country to country (roads options may he more limited too) not to mention require more security required. So im sure theres a sliver of truth that these Countries might be more expensive to go to

But I agree the bigger real factor is probably revenue not cost. In those Countries u cant charge $400 or $500 a ticket as is the norm where I live for example

Just saying, i can see logistical reasons why these markets might be tougher... in North America u got a huge number of cities you can truck your stage supplies between. In Europe there may he an innitial cost but once ur there getting stuff around between Countries is easy...

In South America its not as quick and easy and your going to do fewer cities. Plus Brazil is the only really major market in South America. Ur gonna do stadiums there then maybe logistically challenged move around to do a couple of arenas else where in Chile or Venezuela who can only afford low prices... Thats probably not appealing to record labels...

Tickets are comparatively cheaper here though, the most expensive tickets for a stadium/arena international act top at around u$s 300

Thats impressive

Still, Katy is not gonna sell anywhere near that level and theyd have to travel there for 1 or 2 dates

Labels are a business and their gonna turn their nose if something is not as profitable as somewhere else :toofunny:

She sold out two arena shows here. And, bringing the topic back to pop girls, Dua is on her way to sell out her second stadium, also around 80k per date.

I'd say the big three countries artists tend to tour in SA are Argentina, Brasil and Chile.
