Linus Gaga 8,269
Never thought Taylor Swift would. I started listening to her back in Speak Now era, even tho I like her songs but I thought she would only stick into one aesthetic and genre. So I knew you were trouble, 1989, especially reputation really suprised me. But also cannot deny a lot of melody she uses sounds very similar in a few songs. Hit me a message and say hi ! RAMROD 109,875
As for Beyonce, she have been very conceptual in the past few years, but honestly, I am not sure how much longer she can keep up with a 10/10 album after the rumored part III of her renaissance trilogy album. She might be entering a new phase that is legacy act phase, and only releasing album or touring when she wants to. I feel like her giving a spotlight to her daughter Blue on her tours is also part of that, it just seems like she is slowly but surely passing that baton on Blue. princedeeblebleble 1,795
Absolutely for Gaga, not so much for Taylor honestly :p even now if we just take music into consideration I'm surprised by her success, but the way she conducts her fame and fans is amazing in a way.
TheARTPOPball 545
I never lost hope for Gaga's Career, even during ARTPOP. I discovered people in school that loved ARTPOP, and watched her win another crowd of people over with Joanne, each album has its own niche and reached a different corner of the music taste of the GP. I knew with each release that she would gather more and more fans. I think Gaga will continue to have a career throughout her entire life. I’m not completely sure where taylor will be in 20ish years but i have no doubt gaga will still be decently relevant and even more respected in the industry. HeAteMyh3art 1,393
With every year Gaga just gains more and more respect, and her music is only going to get greater because there will come a time where she won't be doing electro- and synthpop anymore, and start doing even more niche sounds like maybe prog-rock or actual art pop, going disco and grunge in MAYHEM proves she's ready. As for Taylor I'm not sure, she doesn't seem the type to reinvent herself genrewise and I think one day even she will start to fade, even if her sales show otherwise Edited Tuesday at 10:07 AM by HeAteMyh3art DO THE DEAD DANCE 💜
angelduuh 526
I never doubted Gaga but with Chromatica's performance I really thought that people lost interest of her. Also with Disease's performance in the charts, and how Joker went. I didn't had a lot of hope in Mayhem, I knew it was going to be a great album, and I'm so glad it reignited her love with the GP. As for Taylor, yes, I'm amazed of how big she has become.
pachinko 10,454
Taylor Swift is certainly a shock.
Lizzi 225
I always knew Gaga would stay on top, that wasn’t a surprise. Back in 2009-2012 it felt like we were waiting for the general public to catch up and realize her talent, especially compared to some other popular artists around that time she was (is) putting out genuine art and meaningful music. Not that there’s anything too wrong with not doing it that way, but I’m just glad that hard work is being recognized now for what it was
LauraPalmer 1,282
honestly, neither come as a surprise. i always had faith in Gaga. Taylor always seemed to do so well - maybe i didn’t expect her to become so MASSIVE but i didn’t really expect this level of popularity from any singer tbh i’m a woman, i insist, it’s my life ♀
Bradley 59,226 Posted yesterday at 04:33 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:33 PM I knew since A Star Is Born that she was going to be fine.
elsamars 1,872 Posted yesterday at 05:04 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:04 PM (edited) Who would have thought out of all popstars Taylor Swift was going to be the one who replaces Madonna and end her reign. I mean there have been a lot of artists who was labeled as the New Madonna but TS in the end became the most successful (female) artist ever. So in this perspective, Taylor is in whole another level compared to Gaga. The thread title doesn’t do her justice tbh. Mr S 8,691
Katy Perry always had a shelf life. Those types of artists always do. We've seen it before and we'll see it again with Dua Lipa and Sabrina Carpenter. She had a hell of a run though.
Guille 1,258
Mmmm yes tbh, but I would also have expected Rihanna to keep releasing music, and look where we are
