Why Abracadabra wasn’t nominated for Video Of The Year?

I dont understand .. Gaga released one of the greatest music videos of her career..

 

and DWAS is the video her team chose to submit for that award????????????????? 
 

someone please help me understand ..  are they just wanting DWAS to be another one of her most awarded songs of all time?

 

even still- the music video didn’t stand a chance.. it was cute but Abracadabra was pure art and magic.

 

im just baffled.  I know at the end of the day it doesn’t REALLY matter.  But is anyone else feeling the same way?????

Idk prolly Abra was submitted for a Grammy (Best Music Video). They are milking the last stretch for DWAS before it turns into a karaoke classic once it stabilizes as a past classic hit.

Because they wanted as many nominations as possible so they had to spread out DWAS and Abracadra's chances. One got submitted for the general field, the other for the technical field. You can't submit both for both as it'd spread out the votes.

I think they have like a timeline of which videos make it into the list. 

Last year Fortnight won Video of the Year and Billie’s Lunch was nominated there. This year Birds of a Feather was nominated and it came out a bit later in the year (September). Die With A Smile came out in August so it’s around the same time those videos were coming out. So there’s a chance Abra gets nominated for VMAs 2026. 

But it’s so random that they put Abra in the technical categories so by doing that I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t make it to next year. VMAs are so random they don’t really follow a rule like Grammys so they go more with what has been popular or made impact.

It's not about the quality of the videos themselves, but the fact that DWAS was *way* bigger in the US than Abra, but like, *waaaaaay* bigger.

The VMA’s are not “scientific” anymore.  They throw out random nominations, spread the awards around, create random special categories for no reason.  They’re meaningless.

Abra was released in Feb 2025. Making it only eligible for 2025 VMA.  If it was released in middle of August 2025, then it would be eligible for September 2026 vma
