No, unfortunately imdb is based almost only on audience voting, so you may see very popular movies with a higher rating because of the fandoms, especially when it comes to TV series! Obviously there are also critics involved in the voting system but ultimately it's kind of an open source thing. My short films are in the database as well and their ranking depends a lot on the "10 out of 10s" by my close friends lmao
