The hype around MAYHEM died quickly and hasn't been reinvigorated. The GP is not on board with this album. DWAS and Abracadabra had their moments, but not the album or era. Coachella was big, so was Copacabana, but after that, the hype died

Also I wish the recording academy was bold enough to give ROTY and/or SOTY to Abracadabra for its being the category of pop that Gaga has uniquely created and perfected through her career. 

But ROTY/SOTY will probably go to a safe song that's palatable to everybody.

Debi Tirar más Fotos (DTmF) will win, I hope. I think MAYHEM deserves it, but I have said before that DtmF is an extremely important development in global music, and a Latin Music popular breakthrough unlike anything since 2000's Shakira. Indeed, Puerto Rican culture and stories are being spread across the globe, allowing people to recognize the cultural power and beauty of the tiny territory. Not only that, but the music itself is a unique almagamation of indigenous music, latin music, carribean music, and pop music.

Plus people be dancing to that sh*t. 

It's about time a Latin Music artist won, and DTmF is the ideal candidate.

MAYHEM deserves, yet I think DTmF is the more "of the moment" of the two. Gaga will have another chance.

The thing is what other album had more hype this year?

It's either Gaga or Kendrick 

Both critically acclaimed 

Gaga had her big moment with Coachella and Copacabana, most critically acclaimed tour this year and Abracadabra was a global hit, and DWAS is on the album and already won a Grammy.

Kendrick had Superbowl and a big hit from GNX but if we're being honest the hype for album died just as fast. Voters could reward him again or someone else considering he already won so much last year.

It will all come out to which albums are nominated at the end of the day, split voting between voter groups etc.

She has her chances but I think she’s not the favourite to win. As someone said it will be all about who else is nominated and if there is still enough momentum behind Mayhem in the minds of the voters

My money is on GNX for a deserved win. If MAYHEM gets a big 2nd wind it's mayyyyyyybe possible, but it feels like Kendrick's year this time at the moment.

with everything going on in the US I'd be very surprised if the academy didn't give it to Bad Bunny - music and impact aside his acceptance speech would be a big moment and you know how Hollywood loves when such things happen. Mayhem deserves obviously, but I would get it if DTmF won. Kendrick on the other hand... ugh how many more Grammys do we need him to win so that str8 bros can be gagged over his feud with Drake (hate him btw). 

Mayhem will still likely win 2 more Grammys tho. BPVA and Dance-Pop for Abra. Anything else is a bonus. If Interflop decides to campaign hard for Gaga she may pull through, though esp with Rap votes being divided among multiple nominees and all. It kinda depends on Sabrina's PR for pop categories, not that she'd win AOTY but she may take some of Gaga's precious votes.

Oh and Gaga will most probably get the most noms - which is always a very good indicator for AOTY win.

If she kept the momentum that was till the life shows.. I'd say yea. Like the tour is amazing, DWAS doing wonders as well, but then she disappeared from the cultural zeigeist. Should have released another single around Coachella, with now adding TDD.. but hey.

But on the other side almost no album has gotten as much love and praise, as well as her live shows and appearances, so who knows.

Its funny cuz if any other artist released an album as good as mayhem, with DWAS clout and Abracadabras grit coupled with an insane line up of career defining live shows and performances with coachella, copacabana and a successful tour etc. We won't even be having this conversation cuz it would almost be on lock. Literally no one else did it like her this year

I think it can happen. This year was especially weak in pop releases (last year, we had Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan AND Taylor Swift all competing ...). Gaga is pretty much competition-free in the pop category this year, except for Sabrina and maybeeee Lorde... It's going to be easier for her to make a case for Mayhem imo. The tour is still sold out, and Dead Dance + Wednesday s2 are still coming too. If she releases a Mayhem deluxe with Dead Dance and a few other tracks, it's basically in the bag imo.

Doubt it. That usually goes to the most popular ones. I can’t see her winning this despite how deserving it is. Unless somehow Dead Dance gets added to it and generates enough buzz to take it there. Grammys, like most of these major awards, are a joke..
