just proves that record sales mean nothing to labels for veteran acts anymore

she can still pull a decent figure despite flop after flop and horrific PR

infact the label is probably glad they could chop the pointless promo and save money cus the tour did well regardless

mother, what must i do?

This is total revenue though.

Concert promoters and record labels alone take a massive share of the profits

Then, on top of that, you need to pay all the production crew, dancers, management, the venues themselves to host the concerts, the stage design, taxes, etc.

Never forget how Gaga literally was in debt after The Fame Monster Ball, she literally lost money.

Saying that, you're right, concert tickets should be much lower still.

If she’s working all those dates at $80 avg per ticket then that’s a pretty ethical way of making money. She not bagging all that money herself, she’s creating jobs for thousands around the world.

I know that it's total revenue

but the most profiting from this revenue is the artist, label, management and the stadium/arena

The band, dancers, workers of the place, designers etc, they earn the least and do the hardest job, they basically need to split 15-20% of the profit, even less.

So the problem starts when the label is taking a BIG amount of profit and they raise the ticket prices for that.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I live in Dublin and I'm flying to Manchester to see the Mayhem Ball on October 7th. I noticed Katy was playing the night after, so I said well why not, so I'm seeing her on the 8th and the ticket was only 80 euro for standing, while for Gaga I paid 250 for seats in the lower tier.

I'm seeing her right after Gaga so I'm obviously not comparing the shows cause it's nor fair on Katy, but I still hope she puts on a good show.

I saw katy last month - probly the concert i had the most FUN at in recent memory. Cant deny shes got hits after hits. And the new album is not as bad as people make it out to be

Thats less than $80 a ticket so clearly not in her prime

$2.000 for a ticket isn’t a flex tbh

They are today’s greats, but Bey and Gaga shouldn’t be proud of their prices

It's $80 because she can't charge more, otherwise, she would.

I mean people are going because of her past hits :icant:

At my show she kept saying stuff like “don’t worry I’m singing Roar” or “if you came for Firework I’m singing it at the end” :icant:

Was about to say the same.

I doubt she has enough adoring fans ready to pay a lot à la Beyoncé or Gaga, let not even compare with Taylor.

They surely know she's enjoyed by many cause she has hits yet not that respected/ loved so affordable tickets for each of her vague admirers must be the top way to squeeze a lot on her name.

Teenage Dreams will always make her sell concerts

When she's 60 or 70 she might still be remembered for this album (and some other hits), but not for much that came after that.

Kinda like Cyndi Lauper. People know her debut album and that is enough to buy tickets, even if they have to sit through some songs they might not now. I can see the same happening to Katy

I mean sure but that’s literally how every industry works… the managers at a restaurant make more money than the cooks for basically working less, same with most office jobs or blue collar jobs. The crew is making the same amount of money regardless of how much revenue Katy is making, if anything Katy is probably the one losing here.

If her ticket prices are averaging at $80 then that’s pretty reasonable for a concert. That’s close to one day of minimum wage in many states and even less in others.

I agree that labels and Ticketmaster are greedy but I feel like in this situation the tickets were very well priced probably because the demand wasn’t there but still reasonably well priced.

I mean, it's still $80 million, It's too much... there's no single reason why a concert should make this amount of money and as we see, some are doing much much more, from Gaga, The Weeknd, Bey, Taylor..

Big names and all, but their quality of life wouldn't change if they would make $15 million from a tour.

Tbf, tours of this sized production might not make that much money at all if that many dates only yielded 15M

Concernts are expensive to do now a days. Venue rental, dancers, props, security etc. Some cities may even require permits i wouldnt be surprised. Then theres taxes and record label share

We see $80M but Katy herself is only making a fraction of that

I agree its still a lot of money
