Singer Katy Perry has sold 1.1 million tickets on The Lifetimes tour and grossed more than $80 million in sales, according to figures provided by her management.

The Live Nation backed tour officially launched April 23 in Mexico City, and is scheduled to run through Dec. 7, wrapping up in Abu Dhabi. The Lifetimes Tour, which is themed around Perry saving the world by rescuing a motif-heavy kaleidoscope of butterflies meant to represent her various musical eras, is a true world tour making stops in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America across 91 shows.

The U.S. leg of the tour kicked off May 7 in Houston and wrapped up Aug. 23 in Miami, hitting over 20 cities. In Canada, Perry’s tour played Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Quebec City before heading to Australia with 13 shows from June 9 through 30.

After North America, Perry heads to Latin America for the first time in her career where she will be performing 3 stadium shows before beginning the European leg of her tour in October.

So far, she has added additional shows due to demand, with two more concerts added in Paris, five more in Australia and one extra show in China. Perry’s six shows in China – two in Hangzhou, three in Shanghai and one in Haikou — sold out one minute after going on sale, according to Perry’s management.

Thats less than $80 a ticket so clearly not in her prime

But I still say this is very respectable and reasonalbly successful. Not as big a flop as some make it out to be

I live in Dublin and I'm flying to Manchester to see the Mayhem Ball on October 7th. I noticed Katy was playing the night after, so I said well why not, so I'm seeing her on the 8th and the ticket was only 80 euro for standing, while for Gaga I paid 250 for seats in the lower tier.

I'm seeing her right after Gaga so I'm obviously not comparing the shows cause it's nor fair on Katy, but I still hope she puts on a good show.

I'm only good at being bad

I mean, I would consider reasonable prices to be a positive :emma:

80 million dollars revenue and 1 million tickets sold sound like crazy numbers to me. I'm no Katy stan but she's doing fine tbh.

You're stinky

How embarrassing! FLOP

Meanwhile, Gaga is making millions from just a few sold-out shows! I hope Gaga breaks many records with her Mayhem ball because, as a fan, that would make me feel vindicated and happy.

I love cheering for our millionaires!

She’s still a huge name especially in the secondary markets so it’s not a major shock. Teenage Dream is still pulling crazy streams on par with TF+M. Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, Celine Dion etc. all had massive tours way past their prime because of their name recognition and catalogue so yeah. The tour doesn’t really look that good performance/production value wise but if JT can tour a billion dates being his floppy self I don’t see why Katy shouldn’t.

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

this is giving;

I'm going to a nice restaurant with friends on friday,

then on saturday, me and some raccoons are going to eat out of a dumpster behind El Pollo Loco

Both fun in their own way, but I'd probably prefer to start with the dumper first.

I mean, it's still $80 million, It's too much... there's no single reason why a concert should make this amount of money and as we see, some are doing much much more, from Gaga, The Weeknd, Bey, Taylor..

Big names and all, but their quality of life wouldn't change if they would make $15 million from a tour.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

If she’s working all those dates at $80 avg per ticket then that’s a pretty ethical way of making money. She not bagging all that money herself, she’s creating jobs for thousands around the world.

This is total revenue though.

Concert promoters and record labels alone take a massive share of the profits

Then, on top of that, you need to pay all the production crew, dancers, management, the venues themselves to host the concerts, the stage design, taxes, etc.

Never forget how Gaga literally was in debt after The Fame Monster Ball, she literally lost money.

Saying that, you're right, concert tickets should be much lower still.
