MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A shooter opened fire with a rifle Wednesday through the windows of a Catholic church in Minneapolis and struck children celebrating Mass during the first week of school, killing two and wounding 17 people in an act of violence the police chief called “absolutely incomprehensible.”

Armed with a rifle, shotgun and pistol, 23-year-old Robin Westman approached the side of the church and shot dozens of rounds through the windows toward the children sitting in the pews during Mass at the Annunciation Catholic School just before 8:30 a.m., Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at news conferences. He said the shooter then died by suicide.

The children who died were 8 and 10. Fourteen other kids and three octogenarian parishioners were wounded but expected to survive, the chief said.

The carnage will unfortunately never stop in the United States. I've given up hope long ago. Our politicians will protect the abstract concept of "gun owning rights" than the concrete concept of preventing gun violence and preserving the people's lives.

The shooter apparently identified as transgender:

A name change application for a minor born on the same date was approved by a district court in Minnesota in 2020, changing the name of a Robert Westman to Robin Westman, explaining the minor child "identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification"

And they say this after every shooting. How much more guns do they need before school shoots are stopped? Because so far they haven’t stopped any.

I fear that they’ll fully focus on the fact that she was transgender and this will be used against the trans community. I hate this narrative. I hate the fact that America chooses to not see the problem.

The ultimate sad thing is it's lost innocent kids got killed in what's supposed to be a safe place/sanctuary.  

 

Online everywhere this incident just turns into political screaming matches at each other.
