Background:
Troye Sivan and Connor Franta have both known Chappell Roan for years, and they famously had this photo taken with her in 2015:

They both pushed for Chappell Roan to become successful, and were very supportive of her.

 

Eventually, Troye Sivan would upload a breakup song in January 2018 called "The Good Side", which until recently was not yet confirmed to be about Connor Franta:

 

Flash forward to 2024 where it was confirmed that Connor Franta and Troye Sivan dated at one point (this comes after almost a decade of speculation):

Then we make it to 2025.

Troye Sivan posted a cropped photo to his Instagram (according to him he found the photo like this):

To which Connor Franta responded with this (note the caption):

 

Connor Franta then made a quick video about it where he stated that there was no bad blood with anyone, and gave some of his thoughts on the song:

This is messy but funny.  People mainly like this because it brings them back to ~2014 lol. Also, who doesn't love a little gay drama? 

Also someone (I think on Reddit) said that Chappell should post the photo but crop it to just be herself.
