FfFfFfFF 58,801
An international research teamhas uncovered the earliest evidence of interbreeding between Homo sapiens and Neanderthals. The breakthrough comes from a 140,000-year-old fossil found in the Skhul Cave on Mount Carmel, Israel. This child’s remains, discovered almost a century ago, exhibit both Homo sapiens and Neanderthal characteristics, marking a significant shift in our understanding of human evolution. This discovery dates back to a time when Homo sapiens and Neanderthals likely coexisted and interbred in the region. The fossil from the Skhul Cave now represents the earliest physical evidence of such interbreeding, surpassing previous discoveries like the 28,000-year-old “Lapedo Valley Child” found in Portugal. While earlier fossils from the Skhul and Qafzeh Caves were typically attributed to early Homo sapiens, this new analysis suggests that Neanderthal genes had already infiltrated the population, rewriting the history of human evolution in the region. sarahb 17,252
I've always wondered what society would be like if Neanderthals survived and there were two species of humans on the planet There's no evidence to indicate they were less intelligent either. Do you feel him sir?
