Taylors next era was always gonna be bigger than Gagas anyway. Lowkey was hoping shed space out her era more tho so Gaga could shine a little longer as the IT female artist. Its been a long time since Gaga was the worlds hottest female artist and arguably in 2025 so far she has been in many ways

 

At least shes releasing after Grammy deadline so we finally have a shot at AOTY so ill take that as a win

 

I get that Kendrick is still a threat but at least we have a shot. If Taylor released before September there would be no shot at all

Because she’s using a mass hysteria and the panic psychology of her crazy fans to circumvent the new rules. Not all fan bases are that chart inclined and she know how to use that to her favor. Like other user said, if Taylor stuck to not doing any party tricks her debuts would be significantly lower, higher than her peers yes, obviously, but not inflated.

One thing I will ALWAYS give Ms. Swift is she will find a way to play the game smarter than you. You capped digital variants at 4 maximum? She’ll lay out a full brand new way to inflate physical sales. She is a very smart business woman. The best of the best and everyone wishes a team so incredibly calculated and ingenious as hers. Of course, their astuteness flirts constantly with the line between consumer ethics and plain consumer exploitation, but credit where credit belongs, they know how to play. 

In a years time we’ll see new rules capping variants in CD and Vinyls as a result of this. But hey, at least this is less profitable for greedy record labels cause now they have to cover the production, pressing and shipment costs

she'd still clear her peers but i doubt it'll touch a million

So of all the swifities I know, about 25% at best buy multiple variants. Its a smaller number still if you exclude those buying a CD for the car and a vinyl for at home and purely look at the ones who buy like 2+ vinyl editions etc. 

Just based on my personal experiences, I feel like you'd be looking at least 60% of that million still having sold by now.
