It really feels like she's cosplaying as a popstar, just like she cosplayed as a dancer on TikTok. I listened to her album and yes, there's fun pop songs. But something about it I wasn't able to connect to it. Just feels very manufactured. Very well manufactured, but manufactured nonetheless. Yes and I still like it, but complaining about deserving a VMAs is insane lol

If people view her as just a standalone artist, they'll realise that she's just a fun singer who makes catchy bops - not a dig or a compliment, just facts! With regard to OP, while it does seem a bit entitled to expect to get nominated, there's no denying that she has had an impact on pop culture this year, while 'ordinary' by alex warren (albeit a huge hit) is way more generic and bland than any of her output. The difference is that no one calls him inauthentic or 'wannabe' pop star even though he also used to be a tiktoker I agree! I will say I think her impact is a little overstated and kind of specific but to me impact doesn’t matter as much as output and the videos were genuinely good videos!
Super 1,037 Posted yesterday at 07:19 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:19 AM she really deserved it even if its obvious shes too concerned with recognition + is carefully crafted by a very competent team. she's like a real fictional singer - real life Ashley O.. that's a compliment.
