monketsharona 85,822 Posted August 22 Share Posted August 22 To be honest I like her, not that she's inventing water or anything with her music since the start but her music is always fun, catchy and listenable without any difficulties This album is totally in vein of the first two albums, she actually proved she doesn't need Cirkut and Madison Love to make what she makes. The lyrics — feel like I could have written them all aged 8 in my bedroom, pretending to be a popstar The music — all the songs sound the same, there’s no artistry, colour, nothing interesting The voice — monotone, same throughout… Sorry but this feels like a rich housewife paid a group of producers to make her an album and she wrote the lyrics whilst at her nail appointment… 4 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Mayhem is a perfect example, which sounds wildly different sound wise from start to finish but you still see and hear cohesion that's not solely reliant on the same beat pattern, mixing, synths etc. Ava feels more like it's just run through the same filter to make it cohesive on the surface.. It’s supposed to feel like a complete statement, not just a bunch of tracks thrown together. The flow, sequencing, highs/lows — all that makes the listening experience way more memorable + enjoyable. Like yeah, mixtapes or EPs can get away with being looser, but if you’re pressing vinyls or CDs with a bunch of variants like its the norm today, it sucks if half the songs feel like filler. A good album should work both ways: you can pull a single track for a mood, but you can also run it front to back and it makes sense. Streaming makes it easy to skip around, sure, but physical formats demand intention. They act like cohesion is purely about similar soundscapes. And so it just gets boring to listen to the same sound for up to an hour. Because at that point in time, singles were the biggest thing. Albums essentially became short collections of singles & potential singles. But since the late 60s & the first British invasion and the dawn of prog rock etc. Albums became more considered pieces by bands and solo musicians. There's a reason all the albums that make the list for critics picks of greatest albums of all time tend to start around here and go up to the current day. She never re-invented the wheel but what's happening with ava is tragic, she does not deserve this career trajectory and I really feel bad for her, hope she tunes social media out. Diamonds and dancefloors still remains one of the most fun pop albums ever and this album is not bad, not on the same level of her previous works but considering her back luck with her label and management we should be a bit more supportive, hope she bounces back even stronger cause she has the strength to do it. Ava said she wasn't supporting that release. Don't click play. Her record company and management decided otherwise. We can't blame her. Plus we don't really know about the bts ups and downs... Ava is a talented b-list popgirl. I love her music. She does popcorn hits. Even from the late 50's, many songs of that genre are still banging today on the radio, keeping the fire on and thriving with nostalgy. Many of more seriously crafted music, belonging to legendary catalogs, vanished almost completely from public broadcasting of any kind... She will comeback. She's a tough cookie. I've been listening A LOT to "the death of peace of mind" by Bad Omen and "Where do we go from here" by Asking Alexandria.
