Taylor has a publicist in Tree Paine (i assume her parents disliked her as a child) who is truly on the top of the PR game when it comes to marketing. And since she's came on in 2014, Taylor has gone from strength to strength. Gaga's team and label on the other hand, don't really seem inventive or responsive enough to the industry. And still play the old rules of engagement. 4

Siena 6,268
Gaga’s marketing seems more authentic and like her just doing what she wants, which I enjoy wayyy more. Taylor is too calculated and treats herself and brand like a product that is desperate for numbers. It works so good for her, but i just can’t see her as authentic. 5
princedeeblebleble 1,656
For me personally I really love Kylies social media presence. Its cool, efortless and just fun. Album coming? She teases a bit of studio and close to release drops heavy hints. Shows happening? Every night she posts videos and thank yous.. off tour? She's presenting her other ventures in a cool natural way. Or just random outfit pics etc. Edited Wednesday at 05:37 PM by princedeeblebleble

And even with Mayhem only the first 3-4 months were well executed and planned. Everything post Copacabana has been lukewarm at best from a strategic marketing pov. Taylor is more calculated but I personally have not paid attention to what happens once the album drop. My main issue with all pop stars is that once the album drops they forget about it. No one takes the time to do world building and really land the era besides its lead single. “Up until MAYHEM” - Assuming this excludes TF-BTW lmao We have forgotten our public MANNERS

She's that friend on socials who just pops up in the most random spots doing side quest ****.
MOT 3,072
Gaga's marketing is excellent and has been hugely successful over the years - gazillions of records sold, gazillions of concert tickets sold, gazillions in the bank. Taylor's marketing is obviously better, i.e. she does better numbers with an inferior product. 1
bpmMonkey 5,952
Gaga is way more focused on the music and product. I think she gets very nerdy about these things and that's why I love her so much - she genuinely cares about her music because it's good. Taylor puts one uninspired, sad attempt of an album out every couple of years so she can tour, but boy oh boy, does it feel soulless. In conclusion, I'm happy for Swifties that they can go on these little Easter egg hunts, but I'm perfectly fine with Gaga's pre eras and seeing her happy when she's ready to get concrete about upcoming records. Then again, I'm also a 30 y/o man, I don't necessarily need to be constantly entertained like a child in the car on their way to Disneyland. Wet Fire 7,506
Gaga had an amazing promotional team til BTW. Creating blueprints, setting trends, shaking up the industry. But they failed to adapt and respond to the overexposure in and after 2011. It's been mayhem since then promotion-wise. For 2014-2024 her promotional team has been far from the innovative, risk-taking, boundary-pushing thing it once was. Since 2024 there has been a shake up. There are still episodes of abysmal non-planning (miserably failing to take advantage of Halloween to promote Disease, not employing any promotional tactic since Copacabana). They neither strike when the iron is hot, nor sustain promotional stability over a long period of time. Nor do they change with time and the shifting nature of the market. From a marketing perspective, no one should follow Gaga's team because it's simply not good or smart enough for an artist of her caliber. But LMs are here mostly for her artistry and thank god it's superior enough to makes up for the absolute non-event her promotional campaigns become sometimes. faysalaaa 4,588
Gaga relies on her name recognition and legacy, while Taylor acts like shes a new artist. Obviously for the fans, we enjoy when the artist acts like they are a new artist as its more engaging. Gaga feels like a legacy artist when it shouldnt feel this way at this point of her career.
