Maybe it's just me, but I find Gaga's disco/funk work to be severely underrated in the fanbase. Her covers of I Wish and I Want Your Love are some of her best. Likewise, a lot of The Fame (album) shares those influences and is also underrated.

I've always wanted her to go down a full-on disco/funk era, and while we still might get that in the future, I'm content with this era being that for her right now.

No, I agree. Maybe my statement was a bit harsh — it’s true that this sound is also core Gaga, and those influences are definitely present on The Fame. That’s actually why I was happy to see songs like Zombieboy on MAYHEM. But as a standalone track, I think I would’ve preferred something more like Abracadabra. It makes me wonder if Dead Dance might actually be a deluxe track from MAYHEM. Who knows! Either way, I’m really excited by the clip from the MV (she ?) teased.
