The narrative that the song was not worthy of being in MAYHEM, the backlash against the MV, some of us even started spreading the AI stuff  The leaks where people dragged the song from the get go, the negative sentiment was and is overwhelming. 

Don’t forget the people editing Charlie Kirk’s death and then jump cutting to TDD.

This is why I mentioned in our last exchange that had the song been more of the fans liking maybe that would’ve given it an extra push. Wouldn’t guarantee a hit tho, sadly

You mentioned about they shouldn't have made a Spotify ad and forced tiktoks instead of waited a few days (or a week) for the song to grow organically, but they did the same with Disease too, they waited for its moment but it never happened.

Abracadabra also had a massive start due to its promotion in the Grammy's but it spent most of its chart run in the #20s and #30s, even DWUW spent more weeks in Top 20. Yet it is still one of the most successful singles released by a female artist in 2025.

Nevertheless TDD is still performing way better than the new releases right now.

I dont remember them doing a spotify ad for Disease, a dedicated tik tok page or a radio deal...

 

Im not sure this is an apples to apples comparison. Disease did not get as much promotion as TDD did and Disease is also arguably slightly less mainstream too and may have never been a big hit regardless. Its a very heavy and intense song which rarely does well mainstream.

 

And i dont know if TDD had any chabce of goinf viral or not its impossible to say... im merely saying i dont think they did any favours doing it so early

 

These extra ads on tik tok and spotify were geared towards the internet influencers but influencers also need to be aware of a song or dance before they do anything. It just felt a bit too early and didnt build on anything, it tried to start something that hadnt even started and ended up having little impact

100% the fanbase sucks. I want to repeat that barbs got Super Freaky Girl (and other random Nicki Minaj tracks) to #1-#2 on Billboard off iTunes purchases alone. Beyonce fans got her #1s with Break My Soul and Texas Hold Em. Gaga is arguably bigger than both of them and we can't even get the SONG of her career Debra a Top 10 on BB, let alone Disease or Dead Dance. 

Some of it is Gaga's doing w/ her creating some distance throughout the years (previously I think she had an unhealthy relationship with fans, so overall a good thing). But moving forward, her single choices should be pretty safe... VIYs, DWAS, GOEs, How Bads, etc. stuff that would play on the radio and satisfy the masses. Nothing about diseases, magic spells, or death-- which, at the end of the day, is FAN FARE. The GP (even if it they take a while to latch onto a song), shows out more for her than fans and it's sad.

I think we overestimate how much fans care about the charts. I care about Gaga's success but I'm not going to be spamming her songs just to increase her streams  I already got a job and a household

Wasn't Debra just unlucky cause of the SB? It would have definitely hit Top 10 otherwise, based on the actual numbers and comparing it to the top 10 averages throughout the year. And Debra charted really well globally, Trumpmerica was the only exception, they were too busy huffing paint and dancing to Christian rodeo
