This is gonna end up being one of the most unnecessary remakes of all time. Based on the pic of Harry from yesterday and now this, nothing seems to be changing stylistically. Interest in the HP brand is at an all-time low after a string of flops with the Fantastic Beasts series and JK Rowling rebranding herself as an anti-trans oligarch.

I truly cannot see this series successfully adapting all seven books without getting cancelled or at the very least condensed.

Screw everyone involved in this show and anyone else who wilfully gives that transphobic demon any money.

Looks like someone is trying to generate the characters with AI lmao

I love HP franchise but idc about this new series, i think the inital ideal was doing this new series based in the books but already failed that part with the casting, so, i'm still sticking to the movies.

The movies are still too present in the general consciousness for this series to really make sense. People who were kids when the films came out are now showing them to newer generations, it remains relevant today and will stay so for decades to come. Imagine how weird it would be if they remade the original Star Wars trilogy... even after 50 years.

Cinema and television are still young media, so it's hard to know how people will feel towards certain IPs after a very long time (like, centuries down the road). But for now, after one century and a couple decades of consuming films and series as a species, it feels like certain things can stay untouchable for a very long time.

I'm still curious about this TV show, but I'm also not really fooling myself: everything about it will kinda feel odd. I hope they'll manage to do their seven seasons so it can stand alongside the films. I'm also pretty sure it will smash, the team behind it is great so they have a decent chance of actually producing a decent show, and people will tune in if only out ouf curiosity or to hate on it. Mark my words.
