"Honestly, country music is huge where I'm from," McRae told Rolling Stone, citing growing up attending the annual Calgary Stampede as an influence in her lifelong love for the genre. "My brother's always been a rabid country-music fan. I've always wanted, at some point in my life, to do folk music or country, and I probably still will in the future."

She continued, "But I honestly just got the opportunity to do a country song, and I was like, 'Oh, this is cool.' And I wanted to cross genres really bad. It was just about the song for me. I didn't realize how much a song would be connected to all the other factors, and it really shocked me."

McRae went on to say that, despite having yet to meet Wallen in person, she doesn't regret duetting with him: "I don't think you should regret anything in life, because it gives you so much clarity," she reflected, adding, "I think controversy and criticism is a way of learning and figuring out what you want to move forward with, and how that shapes you as a person. I think it's all important."

I don’t even know if she “seems sweet,” but I agree that she’ll never be a pop superstar. Even the sight of her makes me yawn.

Why is she looking like Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in that anti-sexual abuse video she did in high school?

This cover is giving the first Britney Rolling Stone cover, which I’m sure is not an accident.

It would have been nice to see her try something other than pouty faces and slutty poses. But that’s kinda her whole thing so I she why she wouldn’t switch from it.

I wish her well.

I like the photos actually... I don't know what people are talking about, she's definitely the closest we have to a pop superstar from her generation. 'Sports car' was one of the biggest female songs of the year (it's going to have more streams than Abracadabra very soon)... She just finished her first arena tour... Saying that you yawn at her just makes you look like a hater atp because the material is there, just go watch her performances... :ohwell:

Wouldn't that be Billie, though? Pop, etc

She seems like the only true "superstar" from that generation (so far)

I love Billie and I'd consider her a superstar but she's more alternative than pop imo

I know she is praised for her dancing and criticized for her vocals, but Britney was never a vocal powerhouse either. Especially when Christina and even Jessica Simpson were right there.

She is a pop star for the younger generation. Her shows were so fun to go to. Mostly teenagers and early 20’s so I definitely felt like the old heaux grandpa. The crowds sang along to her YouTube songs that she herself wrote at 13. Pretty impressive.

She has fun bops and her dancey songs remind me early 2000’s R&B/pop. This last album made me nostalgic for 3LW’s “A Girl Can Mack” album. I love Tit For Tat and Anything But Love from the added tracks. Shes my favorite of all the newer pop girls. Top 3 new generation girlies I like are Tate, Sabrina, and Olivia.
