T.I. and Tiny's $53.6 million in punitive damages cut to $1

A California federal judge has reduced a jury's $53.6 million punitive damages award for to rapper T.I. and his wife, singer Tameka "Tiny" Harris, to a $1 remitter, setting up a fourth trial in the trademark infringement case if the Harrises don't accept the remitter, which they have already said they will decline.

U.S. District Judge James Selna said in an order Tuesday that the Harrises failed to introduce clear evidence that toymaker MGA Entertainment willfully infringed the trade dress of Tiny Harris' pop group the OMG Girlz with its L.O.L Surprise! OMG dolls. Tuesday's order doesn't impact the jury's $17.8 million compensatory damages award in favor of the Harrises.

In September, the jury found that MGA owed the Harrises $53.6 million in punitive damages and $17.8 million in compensatory damages as part of a verdict that said MGA willfully infringed the trade dress of the OMG Girlz, which the Harrises co-own, with seven dolls from the toymaker's popular line of L.O.L. Surprise! OMG dolls, and misappropriated their publicity rights with malice, oppression or fraud.

I’ve never heard of the OMG Girl group. Like ever. I don’t think they are relevant enough to be copied. 

I can see why Tiny would be confused but I think it’s a big stretch. She probably made $1 max with this girl group so she wants some coins. 
 

The black and pink two-toned wig just reminds me more of Harley Quinn than anything.
 

The girl in the purple and pink wig reminds me of early Nicki with the black wig with a little pink in it. The doll has the Enigma wig. 
 

Aside from the neon green, there is nothing similar about the band members hair and the doll. 
 

The outfit is very similar, but I’ve seen that outfit done before.

No they didn’t. Only similar thing is the name. Not to mention in the article they said that only one picture of a member of the OMG girlz group was in the moodboard for the dolls. So TI and Tiny are just spewing bs.

Hopefully the next trial MGA wins. I’m so tired of this. LOL Surprise OMG are one of the most diverse fashion dolls on the market from skintones to hair to the fashion. And they’ve been making less of them due to the ongoing lawsuit and characters having to be shelved bc they were deemed “plagiarized” from that girl group nobody has ever heard of.
