Same sex marriage and LGBTQ+ rights basically enjoy some of the highest approval ratings in modern history atm, it’s just that a small-ish group of bigots has felt emboldened by right wing agitprop. Im watching it become more and more accepted here in America. And even though most people don’t hate gays, homophobia is no longer really looked at as a bad thing. It’s nothing anybody is actively trying to resist unless you ARE gay. So many ally females with homophobic husbands/boyfriends , and young men and women who just look the other way. Its not something any one is going out if their way to defend anymore and no resistance will do nothing but spread it. Also, transphobia seems to be getting worse and worse these days with even passing trans people joining in on kissing the transphobes shoes and agreeing with them despite the ppl actively voting to put a stop to their existence. iAstroLeo 14,424
WHAT? I started stanning her because we finally had a conservative pop star singing about dancing and poker. I am very devastated with this news, just teared up my Mayhem Ball ticket. I will be mourning the next days.

Exactly. I think we reeeaaally need to be mindful that algorithms feed us what we wanna see and if you engage in hate stuff they’re going to show you it for one reason or another. They also prioritize a lot of it bc it gets high engagement. That doesn’t mean culture is worse it just means the internet is completely gone to crap

I think it’s difficult to measure “getting worse”, but what we can say for certain is attacks on trans livelihood has absolutely increased. But those are two different metrics! I do genuinely think culture kind of generally keeps marching ahead. What holds back the momentum of progress are old bigoted people but the reality is nothing ever really “goes back” in a cultural sense. It evolves and changes which is why conservative efforts to go back through policy are fruitless and stupid. Look at gay rights. It never ever really had a reversal over its journey to wider acceptance but it did have huge policy setbacks. But culture as influenced by time just keeps on moving forward. Some are shitty people, sure, but the general consensus moves ahead bc in truth most people do not care. now, under a fairly fascist state does general consensus matter in the face of punitive policy? That’s a different question

They probably still felt that way and just didn’t say it, ya know? It’s still bad it’s more generally acceptable to let it out in the open but I it’s not quite social regression is my hopeful point
