Trisha I feel like I never really knew about the environment and stuff until I had kids. I was like, "Okay, we should probably start doing stuff to like help." . Global warming and stuff like that. But, okay, they have the paper straws, but the cup is plastic.

Lizzo: Let me let me tell you something. There is a concerted effort to make the general public carry the burden of climate change and the negative effects that that are happening to our environment when it's really a small handful of companies. They're deforesting the rainforest and they're pumping toxins into the sky and they're like dumping our trash into the oceans.
But like they try to guilt the average every everyday American. And really the things that they even give us, the options they give us, straws, recycling, it's an illusion. They're not doing anything with that recycling. When you put in the recycling bin, that just is going to the same damn place. The straws don't have an effect on.  You know this.
I go into like deep dives online. And I I read up I read up on these kinds of things. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't keep our environment clean. I don't litter. Like if I see trash on the ground, I try and scoop it up with my foot and put it.

Yeah its an illusion to shift the real burden to consumers... but it also doesn't do any harm to make biodegradable choices even if the impact is minimal

Paper straws months to 1 year to fully decompose.

Plastic straws will take around 200 years.

Or why not just drink the drink directly from cup to lips?

They also pose a physical risk to a lot of animal life

I hate paper straws but I’ll use them if I must.

I buy the packs of compostable straws that feel like thin plastic and leave them in my car. Sometimes they have a little yellow or greenish tint to them but they don’t get soggy. I use the reusable metal ones at home.

I like to put my soda can in the freezer for about an hour so it gets a little bit icy, then I get little bits of ice thru the straw. If I’m gonna drink a bunch of sugar, it might as well be at the cold temperature I like.

I had a pasta straw recently from a bubble tea. I was kinda impressed until it cooked and become chewy and then my dog ate it :Cautious: Reusable metal straw all the way
