This era is already worse than Younger Now... :air:

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?

I mean, one of the main ways artists promote is performing, so…

I think End of The World and Easy Lover had potential. EOTW is catchy and easy on the ears. Shame it didn’t catch on.

I love the album, but the casuals didn’t latch on like they did with Flowers. I don’t think Miley ever built a strong and large enough fan base.

I wish she had released the visuals alongside the album release. It was advertised as a visual experience, but unless you go to the theatres to watch it, you’re only getting half of the experience. It’s already difficult enough to get people to the movies these days, so expecting people to show up for your film is a big ask.

I have a lot of respect for Miley for doing her thing, though. Whether her albums translate to sales or not, she’ll be one of those artists that will always be around for decades to come.

Im a Something Beautiful defender and I defend Miley's choice not to perform.

But sis. You didnt even write your own promo posts for the album on your social media. You've openly talked at length about not wanting to perform. You've not even done ****in hot ones.

You can't complain no one promos you.

It seemed like she understood this was not a major pop record and they were emulating the Beyonce approach of selling the whole album through a film, knowing that the songs were not really geared toward radio.

If End of the World didn't catch on, I don't see Walk of Fame of Easy Lover catching on either.

I really love the retro Nile Rogers stuff, like End of the World, Lizzo's Still Bad, and Zombieboy. Shame it's not connecting with radio and streaming.

What does she really want really? In this same era she already said she wanted to make an album without promo or rollout, and now she is complaining her label did just that? :ororomunroe:

This excuse is older than time, how many songs became a hit despite zero promo from labels, especially in the tiktok age.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.

Didn't she say she doesn’t even want to tour? :bear:

If the label is not expecting to make ANY ROI from this album, why waste more money promoting it when most revenue comes from touring? :awkney:

Also...promo alone doesn't guarantee hits or sales...the music has to be great too. The drastic 100 spot drop on the Billboard speaks volumes...the music was horrible and none of the singles were catchy let's be honest

The problem is too many artists are trying to be retro and nostalgic and nobody is pushing music forward anymore...not even Gaga really

Tik Tok has also pressured artists to make cheap, short, viral, quirky, songs that fizzle out after a few months...

I disagree about Gaga.
Gaga has been quite adept at moulding nostalgia into a Gaga record, rather than letting the nostalgia shape the Gaga record.

And realistically - invention and creativity in music these days is about taking what exists and giving it a new life. Because there's nothing new left to do in music. Unless we suddenly start inventing new instruments - which is what lead to the last major expansion in music styles.

Honestly, I feel like whats next for pop music is being demonstrated by the likes of Rina Sawayama, Sleep Token and Gaga to a smaller extent. It's bringing pop and rock back together in the mainstream.
