So, I really thought this thread needed some rap music and who better to focus on than Kanye West. A quick background for those of us not familiar with him. Kanye was born in Georgia but moved to Chicago after his parents split up. Kanye's initial fame came from his production. His style was largely based on infusing new sounds into samples of older music (

I could go on and on about Kanye's career but to be honest it's late here and I'm tired. The guy is an amazing art and perhaps one of the most interesting and influential minds in music. The list is just a starting point. As the week goes I'll post concerts, interviews, some unreleased music and few other things that will help shine a brighter light on the career of Kanye West up to the present

For this week's featured artist Imelda May, the tracks that I like on the given list are:

Kentish Town Waltz

Walking in the Sand

Big Bad Handsome Man

Walking in the Sand initially caught me. Kentish Town Waltz is very relaxing to the ears, I can feel the emotions she belted out on this track. What I love about this artist is the way she made classical music sound modern to me. I wish artists like her will get a spotlight on today's music charts for she holds true talent.

I never knew that classical music is still present on this generation's music due to the endless party/drinking/s-x music prevalent in today's charts. :flop:

Thanks for featuring her this week.

I suppose posting more rare Gaga tracks would be different...Every once in a while I see a member who's like "What's Out of Control/Reloaded/Let Love Down/etc.?"

I guess if someone wanted to do Gaga they could, but only if they did tracks like that. :haha:

Most of us have heard every single one that has leaked or been released.

Aye, I had already bought her album a while ago from a suggestion of yours in another thread. I seen it in HMV a few days after seeing your suggestion, and picked it up because it was discounted. It was pretty good music really. :)

:woot: I think Mayhem is quite a strong album to be honest. I don't find myself skipping over songs like I do with other ones. I really like the words and sentiments in "Proud and Humble" and I don't even believe in god

I'm really liking Imelda's music. So far, Psycho's my favorite

Psycho is probably as "pop-like" as Imelda will ever get, which is good. I love hearing it live, she really goes for the "ow ow ow ow" part

Loved It !

"Sex music" :dies: Best quote I read ha ha but I get what you're saying. Imelda's music is very s-xy, she's a right minx, but she does it in a classic s-xy way, not the "I'm a *****" way. If you listen to "All For You" you'll get what I mean.

Glad y'all enjoyed her

As for Kanye. I'm not a fan of some of his stuff, then others I love it. 808s & Heartbreak is an absolute stunning album, one of the best rap/hip hop albums I have heard. It has got such soul and so much of his heart in it.

I think we should change it to two a week, it seems so far away each post with only one a week.

But I don't mind waiting if you'd like to keep it at one a week.

I like that idea!

Other members of the club- how do you feel about this?

Adding Kanye now!
