Ironically yes, it was our last shot at having a hip hop act steal votes from Kendrick. We needed it to do good lol. Now it IS a thread because it flopped and it won’t serve its purposes

But if it would be too good of a rap album it wouldve stolen points from Mayhem either way. At least now we know we only have 1 “current” main threat

But if that happened votes would be split up since kendrick is an academy fav. So it would have been half votes for an actual good album half for kendrick. So the total vote divided and less chance for aoty

Not necessarily, Pop voters would likely still vote MAYHEM and hip hop voters would be split between voting for Kendrick or a second option. The rap album would have to be absolutely insane and cross genre for Pop voters to completely abandon their preferred genre.

None of his albums have ever been nominated for AOTY,  his nominations were only in rap categories. Out of 27 nominations he won only 5 times, 4 awards in 2009 and 1 award eight years ago
