I like a couple of the ballads, especially You Lost Me and I Am, but this album was kind of a mess from what I remember - I'll need to give it another listen. I get what she was trying to do but it didn't feel like a properly executed sound. Not Myself Tonight wasn't good enough for the lead single either.

Keeps Getting Better was more of the same iirc.

Happy anniversary @bionic!

The memes against Xtina were so good back then :kry:, I'm sorry but this era had top tier haterism, the @FloptinaAguilera account on Twitter was so funny :traumatica:. I checked the album for the first time ever last week, it's a solid pop album.

I don't really share the narrative that it was "ahead of its time", it really followed the trend started by GaGa that era, just like everyone else was doing. But it's a good album. "Not Myself Tonight" was a great single and she looked amazing :vegas:

The album is cleaner sonically than most of Gaga's discography which is often overproduced (this is not a comment on quality lmao).

The album is much more inspired by 00s sounds from Ladytron, Goldfrapp etc who worked on the album. "Strict Machine" from 2003 would fit perfectly on BIONIC so I wouldn't really say its following the Gaga trend. Especially as Xtina had already moved toward this sound in 2008 with tracks from the greatest hits album which would have been recorded before Gaga took off. So really they just have the same/similar common inspirations

The industry was moving in this direction anyway and you can see that in albums like Blackout, X, FutureSex/LoveSounds for example

It was absolutely ahead of its time. Almost too ahead for me back then but I still appreciated like half the album.

My top 5 tracks would be:
    Sex for Breakfast
    Glam
    Vanity
    You Lost Me
    Monday Morning

but also Birds of Prey, Elastic Love, Desnudate.
