wait…it’s not that terrible. I just listened for the first time and have decided the following:

-the cover completely ruins it and makes me fear for my life that smurfette is going to eviscerate me in my sleep

-the song is very repetitive but it’s actually quite catchy? and I think the lyrics would’ve played much better if not likely tamed by the studio to be very simplistic for kids to repeat incessantly

-if this was done just slightly differently with a bit more of her vocal and not about friendship or whatever the hell she’s saying and been included in an album among other strange songs, I think it would’ve been received so differently

at the end of the day, it ain’t great, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought by how yall spoke of it lol. every benson Boone song sounds 600000x worse than this by a million miles so idk what the intense seething hate is for tbh
