Kelly Clarkson is having trouble selling tickets to her Las Vegas residency this summer after announcing it back in February.

The American Idol winner and talk show host, 43, is slated to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for nine dates in July and August, and first takes the stage on Independence Day.

Kelly’s July 4 concert still has sections of empty seats on Ticketmaster, and roughly 70 per cent of the tickets remain available.

Other dates don’t appear to be much more full, with about 70 per cent of seats also remaining unsold for the July 5 performance.

Kelly has been promoting her Vegas residency to fans, and even sat down for an interview on Today to discuss her upcoming concerts.

Ticket prices range from $59 to $880.

The economy is not doing well and entertainment is one of the first things to get cut from people’s budgets when there’s financial uncertainty. Also, many/most of Canadians are avoiding US travel and by some metrics Canadians have historically made up a majority percentage of Vegas tourists, I’ve seen a number of 70%!  This prob contributes as well.

I hope she does well, she's a great performer and seems like a very nice person. I assume most of these tickets sell closer to the date when people have planned traveling tickets and stuff. It's obviously not Adele demand but she's well known for decades now. US is also not having the best time right now with what's been going on.

Vegas ticket sales are going slow, even Gaga's show were not sold out up to a few hours before the show.

the real test is at the day of the show.

Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass

I feel like most residencies are sold out in the week of the show. It's often tourists going "we're in town, we've done what we wanted, what now? Oh, wanna go see Kelly Clarkson tonight?"

Vegus usually sells (out) in the week up to the performance. Nothing to worry about as of now! Plus, Kelly is such a brilliant performer and always a girl's girl.

Love her but she is not that kind of singer people wanna see in Vegas. Or to say it in a crude way, she is no longer A-lister the way Celine Dion is anymore.
