GerMonsterNotta 1,342
What are your thoughts on the clear melodic reference of Bad Romance in VIY? Both songs appear to centre around love, but in very different ways …

Borislshere 52,897
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’d love to see her create some story of mashup
Ziggy 11,450
it's her best musical callback yet. I find the connections between PF - BR - Judas to get increasingly derivative and so while Judas is a great song when you put it next to BR you're like ah ok she kinda re-did it. but VIY is a really beautiful callback in a song that otherwise sounds nothing like BR. It's really beautiful to hear that little melody line reinterpreted. 2
REALITY 75,736
I think it's just a fun callback. She does a similar melodic run in Garden of Eden too. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

2School4Cool 6,429
I mean think about the concept of the album and the purpose of the album cover. This idea of piecing together old versions of herself and reflecting on where she comes from lends itself very well to a song that references a previously used melody See The Best In Everyone 5 2
MountainMonster 361
I don’t think it’s that direct of a correlation. Onomatopoetic sounds is very much a staple of Gaga’s writing style. The repeating of ju-ju-just dance, the muh muh muhs of Poker Face, the Ra-ras of Bad Romance, the ta-ta-take you of Garden of Eden, the Ju-da Ju-da-ahs of Judas. She uses her voice as another instrument more than almost any singer.

27monster27 12,591
Am I the only person who noted some similarities to Brooklyn Nights, especially in the chorus? I don't think this is unreasonable after Lady Gaga (more or less) confirmed that Garden of Eden was inspired by Private Audition. I will admit though that I can see some of the Bad Romance inspiration in the vibe. The longer drawn out low notes in the darker verses, then the lighter but still strongly belted chorus. he/him/his
CubbyGaga 2,487
Only because of the similar note structure in the chorus. Otherwise it’s a totally different vibe and sound.
