Sounds beautiful but I just dont understand this era

It's simple, let ms. Tina explain it to y'all.

So basically Miley used to be a happy hippie who "smoked pot and love[d] weed, but [she] don't give a ****, [she] ain't no hippie" and released random albums like "BANGERZZZZZ" and "Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petzzzz". But then somehow she found the light and started taking her career more seriously with songs like Malibu and Midnight Sky until she finally got over Liam Hemsworth and released Flowers.

It was her first #1 US hit since Wrecking Ball (and not for the wrong reasons this time around), and her biggest hit worldwide as well, reaching the coveted #1 spot across many countries. It also got her her first real Grammy nominations (before that she was only nominated once in Pop for Bangerz, and as a guest on Montero which doesn't really count). But here, she got 6 nominations for Endless Summer Vacation, including 2 wins, including one ROTY.

As if that wasn't enough to assert her legitimacy as a real artist, Beyoncé, who is known to be extremely perfectionistic, calculated, and picky in the music she releases and who she collaborates with, tapped her for a duet on Cowboy Carter, which got her her third Grammy win.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if both stars exchanged words and Beyoncé encouraged Miley to have her awakening as an artiste, which is why she is now doing a 'Visual Album' with experimental music that is really truly different from anything she's done before and more ambitious. The first songs we've heard so far are all really interesting sonically and she's keeping a lot of things under wraps until the film drops, in true Beyoncé fashion.

Hopefully that sheds some light on what is happening. I'm pretty sure once the film drops people will be noticing this era a bit more.

It feels weird indeed. The way her social medias are talking about her at the third person, how much attention is given to the clothes she's wearing. Like the clothes are more important. It feels hollow.

@Bronco Sorry I forgot to add this: also just wanted to point out it seems she is releasing all tracks in sequence this entire era. First tracks 1+2 as a compound teaser. Then track 3 is the lead single. This is now track 4 officially according to Apple Music. The tracks kinda blend into one another as well and I'm guessing she's only releasing these pre-release things because of label insistance pressure is my guess, hence why the minimal effort to promote and focus on it until the film's release. If I were a betting guy I'd guess she would have preferred to drop this as a whole body of work and let it speak on its own.

There's a video with her singing this song by the piano and idk why but, it gave me major You & I vibes.

Lovely song tho, sometimes i feel like if I started liking Miley when I was a bit younger i'd be staning for her so hard rn, I like her tone, her aesthetic and all around wildcard aura but something is just not clicking for me to stan idk

Honestly I do think you are right about how its being drip fed out.

I'm waiting for the full album and film to drop as I think it'll finally click as a whole then. End of the World is beautiful though.

If she ever tours again id kill people for tickets

It's funny because I don't stan Miley but somehow I've listened to pretty much everything she's made and pay attention. Like I was obsessed with Katy Perry's Teenage Dream when it came out but very quickly started losing interest after that. But even though I've never been OBSESSED with any Miley song or era, I've always listened to each and somehow found something to enjoy. (Yes, EVEN the Dead Petz era. :messga:) But I do see a positive upward trend in her music where each album I like better than the previous one (and it's not because I'm liking her more, the music is objectively getting better), so maybe it'll start clicking for both of us sometime someday. But I think also she's a bit whacky, like the Bangerz era will always be a part of her life and career and she'll always sing those on tour etc., so it's gonna be interesting to see how her career keeps evolving. Definitely growing up as a child star did not make things easier for her.

Yeah i think she definitely does not want people to not experience the music in sequence from what I've got so far. It's definitely been very deliberate. (UNLESS this isn't track 4 in which case my theory collapses lol. But I have a feeling it will be, the end of EOTW seems to blend into it pretty nicely). I'm very excited for this era, and I actually also really like track 2. (Track 1 is more of an interlude so it's hard to really 'like' it, but I think there's some interesting background music to it).

I'm on the fence about her shows, I'd have to see how much Bangerz and Dead Petz stuff gets played because I am really not too fond of those eras. But I do think her voice sounds incredible so would love to see her live. And I can tell she has good stage presence.

Cavadour

She made one great album, Plastic Hearts. Now it's just soppy drivel for elevators.

I still love her voice and her beautiful legs.

Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

You're onto something here, like I also have been following her for sometime and the quality of music (for the most part) is getting more refined. I think her artistic vision is getting more focused as she goes along. It's just that I've always thought that she checks all the boxes for me personally but something is definitely not clicking for me to take a deep dive into her artistry. Perhaps I could still sense that there're certain things about her that still kinda feels manufactured and purposeful (music eras tho not her public image if that makes sense) or maybe my mind is just projecting that onto her cuz I literally grew up with how she used to manufacture a certain persona for music and what could make a splash. Maybe she's yk like method or something and whatever genre she's hopping she's authentic in her own way idk, but either way I mad respect for her she seems fun to be and like has this good head on her shoulders kinda aura, I'll be definitely checking the album later on, hope it's a success for her.
