Trump wants to defund LGBT su*cide hotline

A leaked federal government budget draft would eliminate services for LGBT+ youth who call a national suicide and crisis hotline that reaches thousands of young Americans every month.

Under a budget plan from the Department of Health and Human Services, Donald Trump’s administration would slash all funding for 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services, a federal program that runs the “988” phone line and connects callers with counselors and other services.

The budget draft, first reported by The Washington Post, would go into effect October 1 if approved by Congress.

Since its launch in 2022, the 988 crisis line has provided more than 1.2 million people with life-saving, LGBTQ+-inclusive crisis services, according to The Trevor Project, which responds to nearly half of all calls and texts to 988 from LGBT+ young people

This makes me think of how much Gaga has done in this regard.     At ArtRAVE, there was a table in the lobby of the arena that was staffed by people who would talk to anyone, hand out literature, and most importantly, connect people with counselors and other services.  And outside the arena, the Born Brave Bus was parked for anyone to enter.  Gaga has done so much, and the federal government can't stop her from helping people.

She did something cool at my JWT date. There was a petition to get an amendment to the Florida state constitution to reinstate the voting rights of over a million felons, most of whom are black Floridians. She allowed them to petition in line and even stopped the show to talk about how important it was to sign it and where people could find them after the show to sign.

We ended up getting it added to the ballot and it passed  of course, DeSantis pulled some sh*t and weakened it but the fight is never over.

I hope she responds to this in kind. It's been a while since she's done any true activism and this is right up her/the BTWF's alley.

It helps, it really does. When you're standing on the cliff and ready for it all to just be over, a simple phone call can talk you down from that moment.

I voted for Kamala but was convinced that the dems should have picked a candidate with a better chance of defeating Trump.  Just my opinion that she was a weak candidate.  I think Pete would made a great president because he's very intelligent, and we need someone smart enough to solve any problems that arise.  Also, because we need someone who is not self-serving, and is focused on helping people instead.

Even my highly conservative religious family would not support this as they at least acknowledge every life is valuable and worth saving and that no one should be bullied even if they dont agree with certain things.

I've really stopped trying to understand why an unborn foetus has more rights in the US than its living and breathing citizens. This administration is criminal and gives 0 **** about the American people, that should be obvious to everyone at this point.
