Honestly I'm in the minority who thinks that the Disease music video is far superior to the Abracadabra music video. Abracadabra is great fun and beautiful don't get me wrong, but fans blew it up as if it was the next coming of Jesus Christ when she's done that type of music video time and time again, and better in the past imo (Alejandro, Judas, Bad Romance). Disease is so much more aesthetically interesting, artistic and cinematic, and is actually shot on film rather than digital.

Unfortunately the vast majority of pop fans want something commercial over something artistic and it's very annoying.

Same, I wish Abracadabra was more cinematic like Disease :traumatica:

At least we had the lore with Lady Mayhem :traumatica:

Ye I agree. Dgmw Abracadabra is a great music video and the choreo is excellent, (especially in the bridge), but it was styled more like a stage production rather than a mini movie like Disease, which is fine. But because of that there wasn't really any real storyline or climactic ending. You don't get the sense that they really are dancing for their lives or any real sense of danger etc. Also in the Disease video 'Mistress Mayhem' was way more frightening and mysterious (the dark shadow in the corner, the mutilated mask, the bloodshot eye, the black slime etc.) I wish she'd kept that for the Abra video rather than Gaga just looking c*nty in a big hat.

But my main issue with the Abra video is that it seems like a mixture of recycled ideas from previous Gaga videos, especially Alejandro and the Fame fragrance commercial (both of which I think are way better in scope, atmospherics and cinematography. I kinda wish they'd got Steven Klein back to make the video.

Quartz

Disease's floppage was because of the lackluster MV but ya'll aren't ready for that conversation.

PS - Honestly, this era deserves 6 music videos.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
